Petrol, diesel prices hiked once again, excise duty increased

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (MS)

New Delhi, Mar 14: In spite of the falling international oil prices, the union government increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs three per litre from Saturday, March 14.

Now the excise duty on diesel will be Rs four per litre with the increase and petrol has gone upto Rs eight per litre after the increase of Rs 2 as per the official notification taken out by the union government.

In addition to the increase in special excise duty Rs one per litre was increased for both fuels as road cess, which takes the amount to Rs 10 road cess per litre.

Generally the hike in excise duty is done at a time when the international fuel prices shoot up. However, it is reportedly being said that the union government wants to cash in on the falling prices of fuel in the international market by raising the excise duty and cess.

    In May 2012, when petrol prices were hiked by steepest Rs 7.54 a litre, Narendra Modi had called it a failure of UPA government. Today, petrol is the costliest in India in all of South Asia.
    Here how the common man's Prime Minister of India Twitted then;
    Massive hike in #petrol prices is a prime example of the failure of Congress-led UPA. This will put a burden of hundreds of crores on Guj.

    When BJP was in opposition... onion price increases than they will agitate putting onion Garland, or petrol prices increases than they use to abuse ruling party, when dollar rate was 52 per dollar some politicians use to tell ruling party failed rule India. If BJP elected than dollar rate we will bring it 15 rupees . Now no one talks but people only are sufferers.

    Where are those who came out in the streets and staged a drama when Congress hiked prices. These hypocrites will still not understand that Modi and team are a disaster and a bane to India . Now again they have corona virus to blame. Normally common sense orevails when one gors hungry. But here looks like blind bhakthi will prevail until our country is pushed to the stoneage.

    We should stop complaining about increase in fuel prices. We must sacrifice our incomes for the sake of Modi ji's dreams. He has done so much for us in the last 6 years, toiling hard day and night without rest and travelling the world inspite of his old age for the sake of his country. Let us all do this for the sake of Modi ji.

    Ramnath Kamath Mangalore tell me one good thing the PM has done for the nation. US dollar will touch Rs. 75 next week. He has travelled the whole world only for the sake of publicity. Why should we sacrifice for the sake of the useless PM of India? Sacrifice oneself is like Mother Teresa of Kolkata.

    Why we should stop complaining about increase in fuel prices ? Why we must sacrifice our incomes for the sake of Modi ji's dreams ? His dreams is to make popper citizens of India. He is shattering dreams of the poor and middle income group people. He has done nothing for any body for the last 6 years. Check the Economy growth of India, which goes down day by day. When 120 dollors per barrel petrol/Diesel is less than 60 rupees and now it is US dollors 30 per barrel and price is above 70 rupees. Travelling the world on tax payers money. How many crores have been spent on his foreign tour ? What ever is done is for the sake of BJP and not the country.

    The Government instead of reducing the prices of petrol and diesel when international prices have gone down and passing the benefits to the nation the Government instead will give bonus share to the share holders of the oil marketing companies. This Government has given bouns shares in all the three major oil marketing companies in the last six years nit once even twice and at the same time ruined the banking system in the country. It is acche din for crony capitalists not for the citizens of the country.

    How do we protest when the people are misguided under the name religion and a dictator quietly does whatever he wants which is not for benefit of the Democratic country. And the educated people too under the name of religion don't fight for Democratic rights but only are concerned about the religion though the unseen God who protects all people irrespective of religion under one umbrella.

    I am very happy that Modi has enhanced the prices of fuel. Very good. We deserve this as we asked for this. It is we who voted Modi and he has just done what he wanted to do. Great. Just the other day a die hard fan of Modi is alleged to have said - Let the price of petrol rise to 80 or even 100. We will still vote for Modi. Yes, vote for Modi and keep on doing this. We get what we deserve.
