Coronavirus: Five more test positive in Kasargod, count rises to 19

Kasargod, Mar 23: Five fresh coronavirus infection cases were detected in the district on Sunday, March 22. During the last three days, 17 such cases have been confirmed in the district. The number of infected persons has therefore risen to 19.

As many as 762 persons are under observation. Among them, 41 are in isolation wards.

In view of the rising number of infected persons in the district, the district administration and health department have arranged for setting up two separate centres to accommodate coronavirus-infected people in addition to the current facility available in the district, general, and private hospitals.

The state so far has accounted for 64 coronavirus infections. Those who were found infected on Sunday had recently arrived from Dubai. All of them are men, and hail from Nellikunjae, Vidyanagar, Chandragiri, Marakop Kadappura and Chengala. They have been accommodated in different hospitals here.

Section 144, private buses stop operations

In the light of alarming increase in coronavirus cases in the district, strict measures have been brought into force in the district. The officials have been told to initiate strong measures against violators. All services except essentials have been banned. Private buses have stopped operations.

Inter-district connections have been severed, and people have been asked to stay inside their homes. Prohibitory orders under section 144 have been enforced in the district since 9 pm on Sunday. Transportation has been restricted except for essential vehicles. Only shops dealing in essential commodities have been permitted to operate. Coming together of more than five persons in public places has been barred. Places of worship, religious centres, clubs, cinema theatres, parks, beaches and other tourist spots cannot function. Those businesses which have been permitted to operate can remain open from 11 am to 5 pm. Milk booths, petrol bunks, medical stores, ration shops, and food and provisions shops are permitted to remain open.

District collector Dr D Sajith Babu, said that the district administration has taken measures to regulate spread of coronavirus infection, and has requested the citizens to cooperate with the administration for a few days.

    This revelation, will send shivers down the spine, among citizens residing in Dakshin Kannada district... Kasargod, has acquired a dubious reputation, this new face will further malign and tarnish its image, especially in South India !!!!!

    These kasargod people must have travelled from Mangalore. Please findout the fellow passengers and quarantine them, Please co ordinate with kerala govt. and
    Hospitals to know about patients health conditions.
