Mangalore: Audience at 'YCS Fest' Enjoys Spectacular Display of Talent

Mangalore, Nov 29: It was a huge gathering of young and old at the 'YCS Youth Fest-2009' hosted by Vamanjoor unit of Young Christian Students (YCS).
The fest was organized to exhibit the talents of Mangalore City Varado's YCS units in singing, skit, and dance.
YCS Vamanjoor with 45 members, showed great unity in organizing this huge event in a professional manner making the ‘Fancy Fete’ one of the most successful events in recent years.
Over 2,000 people from all over Mangalore gathered on the Vamanjoor Church grounds to witness a galore of talents. Bringing all the young students under one umbrella was the prime motto of the unit.
The day-long fancy fete started at 2.00 pm, but the Varado-level inter-parish competitions started at 5.00 pm with skit competitions, followed by group singing and finally the group dance competition.
Time management, professional approach of all participants, and the qualified judges were an additional highlight of the event.
Before the prize distribution, a brief stage programme was held which was presided over by Vamanjoor parish priest Fr Joseph Cardoza.
Young political leader and city's well-known advocate Ivan D'Souza, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld.com, Fr Melvyn Lobo, assistant parish priest of Vamanjoor, Fr Ronald D'Souza, director YCS Mangalore Diocese, Fr Charles Menezes, director YCS City Varado, and Jerald Montiero, vice-president, parish council, Vamanjoor, were the guests for the event.
Sr Ida D'Souza, and Avin Mascarenhas, president, YCS Vamanjoor, were also present on the stage.
Ivan D'Souza, in his address, appreciated the youth power in organizing such professional events and encouraged them to do more for the community.
Walter Nandalike urged the youth to take up careers in politics, media, and the administrative services as it is the need of the hour for Catholic youth. He recalled his ICYM days and said that the present era was very competitive and professional. He urged the youth to take up challenges in leadership.
Fr Joseph Cardoza congratulated Vamnajoor unit for organizing a beautiful event with a fully professional approach and dedication.
Sr Ida proposed the vote of thanks. Prizes were distributed to the winners by Fr Melwyn Lobo, Fr Charles Menezes, Ivan D’Souza and Fr Joseph Cardoza.
Roshan Kamath, Deril, Novel Monteiro and Asumpta Pais compered the entire event.
Anil Lobo Permai and Savil Mascarenhas Vittal, who were instrumental in event management, handled the show professionally.
