Bantwal: Three women who reached Vittal from Bengaluru by foot admitted to hospital

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Apr 13: Vinod Kumar Reddy, SI of Vittal police station in the taluk, got three women of Maharashtra origin, who came walking all the way from Bengaluru to Vittal here in the wake of lockdown, admitted to government hospital in Vittal.

These three women, two elderly and a young lady, were working in Bengaluru. As train and bus services stopped after lockdown, all the three set on foot from Bengaluru to Nasik and reached Kodangayi of Salethur near here. The locals of Kodangayi gave information about these women to Vittal SI, who immediately sprang into action and inquired the women about their whereabouts.

The SI assured them to provide accommodation at Kodangayi but the women refused to stay there. Later, they were brought in Friends Vittal ambulance to Vittal government hospital and got them admitted through Malini, CEO of Vittal Pattana panchayat. The women wanted to go from the hospital, but were convinced by the authorities to stay back till the lock down gets over.

Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi met the three women at hospital and gathered information. Later, Rashmi said that the women will be transferred to Mangaluru. Revenue inspector Pakeera Moolya, Divakar, medical officer of Vittal community health center Vedavati Ballal were present.

The funny part is everybody is wearing a mask except these three ladies and they are quarantined for what. They should have been given masks first then the others. I had seen one police officer in Bangalore fighting with a young man for not wearing mask although it is not essential for a healthy person.

What shall I call them.Innocent foolish or extra intelligent. In the year 2002 I have come running non stop from Kuthuparamba to Kannur railway station with suite case(of course without anybody inside) in one hand and my healed shoes in another No regrets.. Today wherever I go I stand a place in race or fast walk under senior citizens category.

Such stories are in the galore happening all over India. I pity the plight of such people who have nowhere to go, but walk home, irrespective of how far they have to walk. But kudos to the local authorities who took note and have taken the poor women under their wings. This is the time for India to unite as one.

Very very true... Beautiful comment... They really don't know what's going on... Really innocent.. One sort of fear... That fear makes them to go to their native place once and for all... They think if anything to happen, to happen in their native and die and not anywhere in the cities... May god bless them abundantly...

Cynthia, very true! There are over 6lacs, such, migrants trapped across the country!

Homeless, jobless, penniless, in absolute penury, they r afraid they will not get a chance to see their dear ones again, which appears to be a very natural human response & wanting (any fortunate soul like u & me or anybody would desire the same thing, is it not)!

The anguish of being left alone penniless & uncertainty gives them the power to achieve such tests (of trudging 1000s of kms to their own homes!

One will never ever understand their pain unless he/she puts them in their shoes!
