Mangaluru: Fake propaganda of cash distribution, lockdown rules violated

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 15: In a bizarre incident that occurred at Kulur in the city on Wednesday, April 15, a crowd gathered assuming that they will be given Rs 2,000 in cash by the government, thereby violating the social distancing rule of lockdown.

A group of 600 to 700 people had gathered at Sri Devi Prasad, a private building at Kulur, as they received information that the details of daily wage labourers will be taken by the authorities and Rs 2,000 each will be transferred to their bank account. The people who were standing in queue in the building gave the same answer when anyone queried them. But when the authorities questioned as to who has given them the information, they did not have definite answer.

All people in the crowd had come with their bank passbook and Aadhar card and had gathered in the said place from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm. Those who were taking information from the daily wage labourers said that they have been asked to do the same by DC’s office.

When labour officers arrived on the spot after receiving information, the crowd gheraoed their vehicle and they escaped in their car from the spot. In the meantime, those who were collecting information from the daily wage labourers also escaped from the spot on bikes. Later, the crowd dispersed.

Neither the local corporator nor the commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation have any definite information with regards to this incident. But it is true that both the lockdown and social distancing order that is in place to fight coronavirus pandemic was blatantly violated by the crowd.

Really a very shameful act during this crisis period. Please don't play around with poor people's life. The concerned authorities should identify such mischief mongers and take stern action. The whole aim of social distancing is lost today.

These kind of unscrupulous elements exists everywhere. I am sure all these 600-700 people came various parts of Kulur and would have reached the spot from different routes. What the Police officials in all these areas were doing? What was the motive of these thugs? Government needs to take swift action and bring the culprits to book.

Similar incident happened in Bandra railway station yesterday, when someone spread rumours that trains to bihar and bengal will be started. the person who spread the rumour has been arrested by Mumbai police. this looks like same modus operandi, and police shoud collect data as to the source of the information, and how so many ppl managed to reach kulur junction, inspite of lockdown.

Whether it be Kulur , Bandra intention seems to be to prevent or weaken India's fight against corona. The labour officers who arrived on the scene at Kulur should have confronted those who were collecting labourers' details. Now they should look for CCTV footage if available.

How come only male members gathered at Bandra? That too without any luggage?
Further if they want to reach their native place trains run from Bandra terminus and not Bandra Station. Clearly shows some vested intrest wants to weaken Indians fight against Covid.
