Mangaluru, Apr 15: Two children were united with their parents in Kerala after an ASI attached to Mangaluru East (Kadri) police station Santhosh Kumar Padil intervened. The children, who had come to Mangaluru during their holidays could not return back to their hometown due to the sudden lockdown imposed which led to closure of border roads.

The children hailed from Manjeshwar in Kasargod district were staying in the house of their relatives in Mangaladevi and were desperate to get back to their parents.

Seeing the children's eagerness to meet their parents, the relatives brought up the matter to ASI Santhosh Kumar and requested him to unite the children with their parents.

The ASI consulted the senior police officers and decided to take the children up to Talapady borders in his vehicle. Meanwhile the parents were asked to take permission from the Kerala government and arrive at the border. The children finally reunited with their parents at the Talapady border. Netizens have lauded this act in social media.

Santhosh Kumar had previously helped a child from Pumpwell to get medical assistance by rushing the child to the hospital in Sagar vehicle of the police department.

City police commissioner Dr P S Harsha has appreciated Kumar's act of humanity and called him the 'corona warrior of the day.'

It is so pleasing to know our own Mangalorean is so humane. I wish and pray that our Government takes note of this and follows his deed for the millions of labourers stuck away from their kids, including Bombay.

I know this ASI santosh. A wonderful human once posted at Barke Police Station. This help from him is his true nature of his love towards humanity. A down to earth and a simple human being.

Well done....but there are many many instances like this during this time in the country... lockdown should not have been so sudden...atleast 4 days prior if it was announced, such hardships by citizens could have been avoided.
