Bahrain, Dec 15: Sita Ram Bhatt Memorial Annual Darts Tournament was held recently at Bahrain Kannada Sangha premises.
The tournament session started at 9.00 am, Anil Basagi, Sangha’s general secretary, welcomed the gathering. Austin Santhosh, Sangha president, requested senior members of the Sangha, A D Mohan and Ronald D F D’Souza, to come to the dias to light the lamp, along with other officials.
The late Sitaram Bhatt had been the president of the Sangha for five terms. During his tenure, he introduced the darts game at the Sangha, and even now, the Sangha darts players continue to compete in all the dart tournaments in Bahrain. Bhatt breathed his last on December 26, 1989, and from 1990 onwards, the Sangha had decided to conduct the annual darts tournaments in his name.
The tournament started with prayer, rendered by Poorima Jagdeesh, Susheela Mohan and Lolakshi Rajaram.
27 men and 12 women participated in the tournament, in the following categories: Men and women singles, doubles for both men and women and mixed doubles.
Winners of the tournament were declared at 9.30 pm.

Men’s Singles: D Ramesh. Women’s Singles: Astika Sunil Shetty.
Men’s Doubles: A D Mohan and Sadananda Suvarna. Women’s Doubles: Astika Sunil Shetty and Shanthi Pinto. Mixed Doubles: A D Mohan and Astika Sunil Shetty. Highest Score - Men: Sadananda Suvarna, Women: Astika Shetty. Highest Finish Men: Doomanna Rai, Women: Astika Shetty. Bull Finish: A D Mohan
Runners Up:
Men’s Singles Ashwin. Women’s Singles: Poornima Jagadeesh.
Men’s Doubles: Nagesh Shetty and Krishna Naimpalli. Women’s Doubles: Shobha N. Shetty and Shalini Shetty. Mixed Doubles: Girish Iddya and Poornima Jagadeesh.
Around 100 Sangha members and their families had gathered to watch the tournament. Vital Shetty of Chef Corner, sponsored the breakfast and lunch for all.
