Udupi: 11 booked for holding marriage function in violation of lockdown

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Apr 19: A case has been registered against eleven persons for allegedly violating the lockdown by organizing a marriage function at Duglipadavu in Alevoor here on Sunday April 19.

According to the FIR, the marriage was to take place between Hassan and Ramlath at 11.30 am on Sunday. Several persons had gathered for the wedding ceremony at the groom's house, it is alleged.

On receiving definite information, Udupi tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar and others visited the spot and found out that lockdown regulations had been violated and marriage function was organized. On seeing the officials, some of guests gathered in the house managed to flee.

The tahsildar in his complaint stated that no precautions were taken by the people present at the venue. They had neither worn masks nor were maintaining social distance. When enquired if the family had sought permission from the district administration to hold the wedding function, they said they had not.

It is also alleged that the bride and her family are from Borigudde, Mangaluru and had allegedly entered Udupi district without permission. Based on a complaint by the tahsildar, a case under IPC 188, 270 and under 149 complaint has been filed against eleven persons.

The accused are Saleem, Nabisa, Hassan, Ramlath, Abdul Suhail of Kunjibettu, Azharuddin of Duglipadavu, Mohammed Ashraf of Netajinagar, Badagabettu, Shahid, Bakash, Mohammed Sharief and Mohammed Iqbal.

The tahsildar and his team sent away the guests and thereafter allowed the wedding to proceed in the presence of close family members.

Sources said that more than the permissible number of persons attended the function.

    Dear All,

Don't bring politics here. I think the family members were wrong for not obtaining permission. We need to thank Tahsildar for allowing the wedding, he has realized the emotions of people. Keep aside covid19, We need to make this wedding as model for the society, only 10 to 15 guests only should be called and weddings should be simple, no expenditure. Save the money and use for some good purpose.

This is now proved without any iota of doubt, that India, has two set of laws, one for the privileged, the high n the mighty, another for common citizens of our nation !!!! They insult, demean our values, sensibility !!! Permitting an ex PM and ex CM to conduct the marriage, with pomp and glory, cooking a snook at all laws and the other end, booking a common citizen, for performing their nuptials !!!!!

Udupi administration has done the right thing. They did not take the permission, entered Udupi district illegally, no social distancing.
We have to loud administrators for allowing the marriage to take place. Plz read "The tahsildar and his team sent away the guests and thereafter allowed the wedding to proceed in the presence of close family members”.

What has happened is very wrong. All people attended should be quarantined for 14 days. That is the punishment. New couple in the same room for 14 days. They will understand the real meaning of marriage.

On the other hand how politicians celebrate birthday and marriages. Corono doesn't know who took permission and who not. No means no. You cannot measure the same yard with 2 different yard sticks. Permission for medical emergencies not physical emergencies.

Marriage is a holy and Sacred event. We all support marriages irrective of cast, religion. Our minister's are the role model for our people. How come Gowda's family performed wedding of their son in the presence of 100 guests. Just because he is a Minister ofcourse police will make sure that statement will be issued in compliance. Probably Hassan may not have enough money to throw, so it became a lockdown issue. Double standard for rich and poor.

Wah wah, minister ka bete ka shaadi lockdown me ho sakta hai, lekin garib hassan ka shaadi nahi ho sakta. Kyonki hassan bichara middle class aadmi hai. Middle class logon ka yaad sirf paanch saal me ek hi baar aata hai , Vote ke liye. Wah re prabhu Teri maaya, kahi dhoop kahi cahaya.

Langoolacharya kummaraswamys wedding was shifted from a 5 star hotel to his own private farm house and there were only close family relative's whereas Hassan did not do that he called everyone that's why the officials came and conducted the wedding with only only close relatives allowed there is a different stop trying to simply put question marks and bring the question of bade chote. Anyway congratulations Mr and Mrs hassan

How did the bride's family & guests manage to sneak through, all the way from M'lore and that too without permission ?
That too, with all borders sealed ? Cops everywhere ?

And how come they weren't caught after entering Udupi?

Did they come flying or swimming ???

Looks like we will now need to seal all water entry points too- rivers, dams , etc.
