Bengaluru: State government permits private schools to collect school fee

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 24: Bending under constant pressure exerted by the management of private schools in the state, the state government has permitted them to collect the fee for the next academic year from financially sound parents.

The private educational institutions had been asking the government permission to collect the fee for the next academic year from the parents, as they find it hard to disburse salary to teaching and non-teaching staff. Considering their plea, the government has passed this order.

Giving information about the change in government's stance, minister for primary and secondary education S Suresh Kumar, said that the management of the schools have been barred from forcibly collecting the fee from parents who are not in a position to pay it, and those parents who refuse to pay the fee for the present. He also warned that schools which put pressure on the parents to pay the fee now will be acted against without bias.

S Suresh Kumar

The government had taken the stand that schools could not admit students until the beginning of the next academic year in the backdrop of lockdown in force. It had warned the schools of cancelling their recognition if they violate government instructions.

Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary schools in Karnataka (KAMS), has welcomed the decision of the government that has allowed schools to collect the fee. Its general secretary D Shashikumar, has requested educational institutions not to pressurize the parents to pay the fee now if they are unwilling.

    Agree to paying Tution fees.
But why to pay for ACTIVITY Fees, LAB fees, Sports, music, etc when there is no such activity conducted.

Why to pay for BUILDING MAINTENANCE, ELECTRICITY, WATER Charges in the name of ANNUAL Fees / TERM Fees when students can't come to school.

Is it parents responsibility to maintain school building???

Why cant the Government to fix the norms in school fees, which is very much higher .and increasing every year..If the Government has the rights to allow the schools to collect the fees during this crisis, then the Government has full rights to declare the fee structure for the private schools. Now a days, comparing to any other businesses, education has become the top hot business, where minimal education is delivered to the students.. really waiting for some good officials to bring back the good education system.

All schools had been collected fee for academic year 2019-20 upto May2020. We are paying for full academic fee and they are unable to pay sallary to their staff then govt should think how can a small business man pay in advance when all india is lockdown and the source of incom closed. All sallary people are getting sallary but businessmen from where will they get money to pay the fee. Govt should give time for the fee.

    Dear minister..
The decision is purely out of pressure created by the Pvt schools management...Please be reminded that these schools charge a minimum hike of 10% every year, without any changes in facilities.in the present situation the companies are forcing employees to take a pay cut up to 30%.this act of yours permitting them to collect fees for next academic year is highly unfortunate.the fees for current academic year 2019-2020 April is already paid..May being summer holidays the actual academic activities starts from June..The hike in fees every year for no reason should compensate for their payments for the above 2 months of summer pay..Hence request you to reconsider this unscientific stand of the govt.
Your order says no schools should put pressure on parents...Do you really think they won't?

Private schools are rubbing huge fees during the academic. They can pay from their funds. It's not like pay in pay out.
We understand school staff condition also, as they need to pay salary for their sstaff.
If really worst, why not govt pay relief packages from PM cares fund, which has been collected Crores of Rupees.

School is already collecting huge money every year and they collect donations everywhere in the name of development fee whose interest is good enough to pay salary to their staff.

Some schools are asking parents to pay fees on the pretext of giving salary to teachers and staff. Instead schools must send the pay roll list and monthly payment details. Parents will take care of their payment including non teaching staff. Parents are
paying 50 thousands for a child. Schools generally spend 20 to 30% of collected fees on staff payment. What about the remaining money collected in the past.

You are right. I'm from Hyderabad. Our government has given strict orders to schools and colleges that no one should hike the fees and also schools management should not force parents for the fees and parents can pay the fees in installments. And also no house owners should collect rent from tenants. It's a great support from our Telangana government. And if any one voilates this orders strict order will be taken by government. So we all are releived from the stress.

On what bast the govt is declaring that the private school can collect the fees it's not only School fee that only family has to take care off the companies are not ready to the salaries. If there is no salary than how they are suppose to give the School fee.
Apart from the School are not going to open very soon then why should the parent should pay fees. It clearly significies that the decision what has been taken it's just to give befits to the school managements , and the govt. Is concerned about the families vthen the govt. Should provide the funds to the school.

Does the Minister expect all parents in problem to send a mail to schools that they are not financially sound. Is the idea of this statement to embarrass parents? The govt notice should be for the citizens to pay if they can, not the schools to collect fee. Now the schools will use this tactic to corner the parents. This is why there should be a strong PTA to raise the voice as the schools association has.
