Dubai, May 3: Three Indians in the UAE, including a man from Kinnigoli near Mangaluru, are in trouble for allegedly uploading offensive posts on social media, despite warnings by the Indian embassy against doing so.

A report on Gulf News stated that over the weekend, at least three NRIs were suspended by their companies for Islamophobic posts on social media.

Italian chef Rawat Rohit, storekeeper Sachin Kinnigoli and a cash custodian whose identity has been withheld are being questioned by UAE authorities about their inciting posts on social media.

Azadea Group, which has an Italian restaurant chain in Dubai, informed that Rawat Rohit has been suspended from work and investigation is being carried out to take action against him.

Sachin Kinnigoli, who is employed with Pneumics Automation, has been suspended from his position, as per the information shared by the employer. "We have withheld his salary and told him not to come to work. The matter is under investigation. We have a zero tolerance policy. Anyone found guilty of insulting or showing contempt for someone’s religion will have to bear the consequences," the firm’s owner was quoted by Gulf News.

Dubai-based Transguard Group in a statement on Twitter informed that they have taken action against an employee who had posted several anti-Islamic messages on his Facebook page under the name of Vishal Thakur. "Following an internal investigation, the employee responsible for posting these inflammatory comments under a false name has been identified, terminated and handed over to the authorities as per the strict zero-tolerance social media policy of Transguard Group," the company said. The employee is in the custody of Dubai police.
