Jubail, Jan 3: The colourful Bamafest – 09 was held at United Beach (Sabic) Camp alongside Fanatheer shoreline here, recently. The fest was grandly organized by BAMA (Bajpe Area Minority Association), Dammam and Jubail units of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The association comprises young and vibrant people with the objective of volunteerism in and around Bajpe area.

BAMA, which was established in 1991, has been at the cutting edge in getting itself actively involved in social and community services as well as to act as an aid organization for the underprivileged class of the society as well as community.  Education, medical assistance, upliftment of deserved families and the alike are some of the areas, where it has reached out extensively in and around the village. For these noble causes, BAMA had been organizing various get-togethers, family gatherings under the name of Bamafest in the Kingdom along with several events within the Islamic framework. This is the second event after successful and nforgettable gathering of Bamafest that was held in 2005 in Dammam.

“It was really happy and gratifying for us to have had a successful and unbeaten ending of the fest with full of invitees, sponsors and guests present. We were also gifted by the blessings of the Almighty God with good weather conditions. It was only because of all out efforts and works of our all members,” said BAMA Dammam president Shakeer Ahmed and the event manager Hameed B U informed Daijiworld.

The morning event was kicked off with Qur’aan recitation by Sadiq Bright, Bajpe at 10.30 am followed by Qirath contest for the children. The afternoon session was resumed with the welcome address by Shakeer Ahmed, the president, who has portrayed the series of voluntary activities and charity works carried out by BAMA during the past years. Sherief Majjigudee, secretary of BAMA, briefed about its wide-ranging activities and achievements starting from 1991 to 2009. The slides were shown on the screen throughout the day briefing about the milestones achieved by BAMA, and of the well wishers and sponsors of the event, which was prepared by Iftikhar.

Various fun and frolics, games, playoffs were organized for the children, ladies and gents. The competitions like memory power, word power, one-leg race, sack-racing and back-race among others were exclusively organized for the children, which really gave the taste of feast for the audience including the children’s parents. Majority of the children actively participated in those events as with great enthusiasm and delight.

The playoffs, such as volleyball, breaking the pot, football penalty shootout and tug-of-war and so on were arranged for the adults. Pot-breaking competition made the whole spectators to dive in the stream of laughs and cackles.

Special attraction of the day was indoor games such as bread eating in two minutes and searching the coin in maize flour using mouth. Pick and speech was organized for gents based on four important relevant topics, in which Ismail Katipalla, Hamza Mittur and Shahul Hameed bagged first, second and third prizes, respectively. Quiz was conducted by Naushad and Hameed Sunkasale. Abdul Khader was winner of the contest.

Shabeer Ahmed magnetized the crowd with fun with his relatable jokes. Nasir gave an Islamic discourse in the form of Naseehah to the gathering.

Besides, various events were also conducted for ladies like picking the ball, musical chair, salad-making competition, bread eating and quiz which were very much appreciated by the guests. The entire activities were effectively conducted by BAMA ladies team.

Final event of the Bamafest was housie-housie, which was host by Hameed B U. The participants were thrilled and eagerly looking for the numbers to become the winners of the game.

Prizes were distributed to all the winners and participant children in the events. Bamafest event manger Hameed B U proposed the vote of thanks. Delicious lunch was arranged by NCMS Jubail spearheaded by Rasheed.

BAMA FEST 09 was really a colourful family gathering of end of the year 2009. Attended audience  enjoyed the superb quality entertainment in chilled weather of December. Expatriates are rarely conducting family gatherings in months of December, January and February due to chilled weather of Arabia. But guests  gathered more than expected and the event was very successful.

Good work BAMA! please keep it up. Your intentions to help the poor and needy of our Society / community is praiseworthy. From the photographs we can make out that an energetic young team is active and working for the good causes. Sometimes please also try to coordinate with the other D.K. Associations or Karntaka based Associations in Saudi Arabia or in GCC countries while chalking out the programs to help the poor and needy of our society/community. May Allah reward your efforts.
