Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, May 6: An 18-year-old girl who had travelled to her hometown Badami in Bagalkote district from Udupi during the second week of March this year, has tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, May 6.

Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha said that he has spoken to Bagalkot deputy commissioner. The DC said that the girl had reached Bagalkot in March. “There were no coronavirus positive cases either in Udupi or nearby districts then. Therefore, she is not likely to have contracted the virus in Udupi. As the girl had left from Udupi before lockdown, there is no need for people here to be anxious about it,” he said.

The girl studying at Nitte Engineering College, Karkala, had left to Badami on March 14 due to vacations. She had come in contact with a 23-year-old pregnant woman on May 2 who was coronavirus positive and contracted the virus. As many as 12 out of 13 people, who have tested positive in Badami, had contracted the virus from the pregnant woman, said Udupi district medical officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda.

If Udupi district in green zone then it is worth appreciating the deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha.

When the local Member of parliament is busy spreading 'Corona Jihad' twitters, this officer single handed with strict administration skills managed the crisis very well.

Sri anna, Yes...they live in groups. Thats why we get positive in many numbes. Though they come and work here, they will not listen to us. They wilk listen only to their leader who brings them to the City. Difficult to train them... can't help..

My intention was, temporarily people need to stay away from crowds..

Chinese people are so much disciplined that , they remained indoors for 3 months and virus is gone from China..

But in India, we have herd mentality, and very difficult to do away with virus..
