Kundapur: Hotel owner returning from work assaulted by gang of five

Kundapur, May 7: A group of people allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill a hotel owner who was on his way home from work.

The incident occurred at the Yedthare junction, near Byndoor. The victim identified as Dileep Kumar is the resident of Balehitlu in Yedthare. He is the son of Babu Devadiga.

Dileep runs a hotel, Hallimane at Yedthare junction with his father. On his way back home from the hotel at 6.30 pm on Wednesday, May 6, the accused, Akash Poojary, Sukesh, Roshan, Shivaraj and Kiran who were in a car with registration number KA 32 O 6375 waylaid and attacked Dileep with an iron rod. The men reportedly threatened to kill Dileep. The assault continued with the group attacking Dileep with a machete. In his complaint to the police, Dileep stated that the group snatched a gold chain of three and a half sovereign from his neck and his mobile phone before fleeing.

The assault left Dileep critically injured and unconscious. Locals Gururaj and Manju who found Dileep, admitted him to the hospital. Dileep was shifted to Kundapur Adarsh hospital for further treatment.

A police case in this connection has been registered at the Byndoor police station.
