Lockdown day 46: Dakshina Kannada corona tally rises by 3, no new cases in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 9: Three people tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, May 9. No new cases were reported in Udupi.

As reported earlier, three members of a single family had contracted the infection. The infected, two women aged 60 years and 70 years respectively and a 30-year-old man are said to have contracted the infection from a 69-year-old man who was confirmed with COVID-19 infection on May 1.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,526 people have been screened so far, including 102 on Saturday. Thirty-two people are at NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility. Another 40 people are currently quarantined in ESI hospital.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 4,242 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 3,956 samples have been received. Out of these, 3,925 have tested negative, 31 positive, and 15 are currently active. Thirteen people have recovered and been discharged, and three deaths have occurred so far.

As many as 89 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Reports of 42 samples were received on Saturday out of which 39 were negative and three positive.

P-507, an 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar and P-536, a 58-year-old woman from Boloor are said to be critical and are being treated in ventilator.

Reports of 286 samples are awaited. As many as 10 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 2,818 people have been treated at fever clinics so far, and 94 screened via mobile clinics. On Saturday, 10 cases of severe acute respiratory illness were reported.

In Udupi, a total of 2,695 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 124 on Saturday, and a total of 3,471 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 73 on Saturday. As many as 695 persons are currently in home quarantine.

Altogether, 12 high-risk persons and 11 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 55 people are in isolation wards, including nine fresh admissions on Saturday.

As many as 424 people, including eight on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 1,534 samples have been collected so far, including 67 on Saturday. Out of them, 1,368 samples have turned out to be negative, and 163 reports are awaited. Altogether, three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and have been sent home.
