Mangaluru May 9: A special train left Mangaluru Junction railway station to Jharkhand with migrant workers and others on Saturday, May 9.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath were present at the railway station.

Earlier, deputy commissioner Sindhu P Rupesh had informed that train service for migrant workers to travel to other states will begin from Saturday.

“We have arranged railway services for migrant workers and those who have registered themselves online on Seva Sindhu. All will undergo necessary tests. There is no need for migrant workers to voluntarily
come and gather at the railway station. We will make all necessary arrangements for their travel to their respective destinations,” she said.

So far 20,000 have registered themselves online among which 5,000 from are from Jharkhand, 3,000 from Uttar Pradesh and 4,000 from Bihar.

It may be recalled, Karnataka government had decided to allow many of the stranded to return to their native states on May 7 and had resumed train services after cancelling them a day earlier.

On May 5 the BJP's center government has declined to share details of the ticket fares with the Supreme Court. The Center refuses to disclose details of train fares charged from migrant workers.

The Centre was not paying anything upfront to subsidise the travel directly. The ground reality was that the workers were being asked to pay for their tickets, which also included an additional ‘corona surcharge’ of Rs 50. As a result, the tickets cost more, with workers paying anywhere up to Rs 800 for availing of the train facility. Several states came forward to pay for the tickets thereafter, but not before the Centre faced ignominy.

Now MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath is taking credit for doing nothing.

    Good decision 👍
Though lockdown was great decision, all chaos because of it was implemented all of sudden.
Corona Virus wasn't dropped from sky to declare lockdown all of sudden, infection came in India gradually through inbound passengers from abroad.
Had all passengers coming in were quarantined from late February, and 1 week notice was given before lockdown, many things would have gone smoothly.
Stranded tourists would have gone, people would have stocked necessities, shop keepers / hoteliers would have emptied perishable, students would have gone back.
Offices would have planned work from home facilities. There wouldn't have been so much chaos!

Lag gayee dandhe ki...aur aankh kulee andhe ki....This is our ruling BJP waking up from their slumber after several suggestions given to them from Congress Party both Mr. Rahul Gandhi from March itself and subsequently Mrs. Sonia Gandhi writing several request letters to P.M's office about migrant labourers. But Bharatiya Jokers Party(BJP) they care only for theie rich crony capitslist 'Gujarathi Friends' who looted Indian Banks and ran away from the country with full indirect support from BJP and at the end in return BJP gets money for party funds and their election expenses through "Electoral Bonds". Indian tax payers money is looted very systematically in connivance and in a planned way by our Deshbhakths!!!

These migrants had very bitter experiences of their lives due to poor planning.
Most of them will never return for a very long time to come.
They are only welcome, to keep the economy going!!!

Congress paid the fare for these migrant workers while BJP was charging one way fare to these migrants. Shame on these 2 cartoons doing photo up for charging the unemployed penniless workers. RaGa deserves to be in the photo but he is not for media publicity.
