'All Karnataka returnees from London coronavirus-free' - Minister K Sudhakar

Bengaluru, May 12 (IANS): All the returnees to Karnataka from London on an Air India flight early on Monday were free from coronavirus, a minister said.

"All 326 passengers who arrived in Bengaluru from London are asymptomatic and have been shifted to 6 different quarantine facilities in 13 buses. All of them (returnees) will be tested twice during the 14-day quarantine period and swab collection will be done at their place of stay," state Education Minister K. Sudhakar.

Sudhakar, a doctor by profession, is also in-charge of tackling the Covid-19 crisis in the southern state.

The passengers included 3 infants.

The 17 cabin crew, including pilots and cabin crew of the national carrier's Boeing-777 also tested negative on arrival at the city airport via New Delhi.

However, a 27-year-old woman passenger, who vomited on arrival in the airport terminal, was admitted in a state-run hospital in the city for non-Covid-19 treatment.

As she was alone, the hospital allowed her husband to stay with her in the isolation ward for the 14-day quarantine period.

"After the woman recovers, the couple will be shifted to a hotel for the remaining quarantine period," a health official said.

As the returnees, including women, senior citizens, students, tourists and others were stranded over 47 days in the UK due to the Covid-19 induced extended lockdown since March 25 and suspension of overseas flights since AMarch 23, they looked relieved and happy to be back home.

Still I am worried about hotel staff. Govt. Should provide them full PPE and check them also for COVID 19. Try to keep the staff in hotel accommodation and they should not allow visitor or local tourist inside hotels.

Its express verbal result because they arrived from LONDON.
If someone turns positive after another test anyway no one to blame because it may be course of the disease.
If they arrived from Africa then its different policy for them. For Indians anybody arriving from US or UK are next to God, in reality they are worse than Indians.
We need to change our mentality in first instance .

In India, Vaccine in Childhood is compulsory. Government also promotes it. BCG Vaccine improves overall immune system against most of the viruses.

In Western countries, it is not mandatory. So, many children are not given vaccine for some stupid non-scientific reasons.

Very good news. India has 2 deaths in one million population, whereas the figure is 247 and 472 deaths per million population in US and UK respectively. The spike in the corona virus cases is declining in Karnataka. Also, Karnataka is far better than the rest of the country and specially Maharashtra.
