Mangaluru/Udupi, May 12: Two cases of coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, May 12. No cases were reported in Udupi.
As reported earlier, the newly identified coronavirus patients are 52-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man and both are residents of Karkala. They had been earlier admitted to First Neuro Hospital and had reportedly contracted the infection from P-507, an 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar, who was getting treated for some ailment at the same hospital.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,704 people have been screened so far, including 130 on Tuesday. As many as 20 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility. Another 24 people who were quarantined in ESI hospital, were sent for home quarantine.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 4,453 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 4,306 tested negative, 33 positive, and 16 are currently active. As many as 14 persons have recovered and been discharged, and three deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 33 positive cases, 27 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.
Condition two patients - an 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar, and 58-year-old woman from Boloor, is serious.
As many as 55 samples were sent for testing on Tuesday. Reports of 69 samples were received on Tuesday, out of which 67 tested negative and two positive.
Reports of 114 samples are awaited. As many as 23 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,048 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Tuesday, 113 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
In Udupi district, a total of 2,869 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 27 on Tuesday, and a total of 3,593 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 41 on Tuesday. As many as 656 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 12 high-risk persons and four low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 73 people are in isolation wards, including 15 fresh admissions on Tuesday. One is a CODID suspect, four among them have SARI and 10 influenza-like illness.
As many as 443 people, including nine on Tuesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 1,692 samples have been collected so far, including 24 on Tuesday. Out of them, 1,602 samples have turned out to be negative, and 87 reports are awaited. Three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and discharged from hospital.
