Speaking at a press conference at the Vidhan Soudha, minister for Higher Education Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said, "CET examination will be held on July 30 and 31. As usual this year too, the examination will be conducted offline. Decision is taken to hold the examinations with all the necessary precautionary measures.

"Students who will take the examination need to wear face masks compulsorily. The number of students in one examination hall will be less compared to the usual seating capacity as social distance needs to be maintained. So the number of examination centres will be more. The CET examination was supposed to be held on April 22 and 24, but had to be postponed due to lockdown.

"Only English subject examination is pending for second PUC students. PUC Board will decide the date for this at the earliest. Degree colleges will begin the next academic year from the first week of September. Necessary measure will be taken with respect to examination as well as results,” he said.

Giving clarification on the issue of blocking of medical seats, Ashwath said, "Already a committee is formed for this purpose and it has given its report also. The concerned minister will take suitable action after studying the report."

Responding to a query with regards to the increase in fee for engineering, the minister said, "We have got appeal to increase the fee for engineering course. But the government has not taken any decision in this regard. As the coronavirus lockdown is still in implementation, admission to these courses is a big question mark. Scientific analysis will be done with respect to the increase in fee for engineering course and suitable action will be taken."
