New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Friday cracked down on illegal hoardings and display of advertisements in the national capital, issuing notices to six leading companies, including Bharti Airtel Limited, Reliance Communications and ICICI Bank.
"The MCD has issued notices to six leading companies to remove unauthorized and illegal display of their company's products by way of banners and hoardings. They have been directed to remove their displays within 48 hours. This action has been taken under the zero tolerance campaign launched on Jan 21," MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur said.
The six companies are: Bharti Airtel Limited, Relaxo Home Appliances Private Limited, ICICI Bank Towers, Relaxo Footwears Limited, Virgin Mobile India Private Limited, and Reliance Communications Limited.
The civic corporation has warned that if the companies do not comply with the notices, complaints would be lodged against their chairman, chief managing director or senior functionaries.
Mathur also said that the MCD's advertisement department removed 21,645 banners and posters in the first two days of the campaign. The crackdown will continue Jan 28, 29.
