Moodbidri: Day 2 - Sunil Shetty Special Guest at Koti-Chennaya Kambla

Moodbidri, Jan 25: The Koti-Chennaya Kambala, which was inaugurated on Saturday January 23, continued till midnight on Sunday January 24 with the participation of 194 pairs of buffaloes.
This Kambala which has been organized under the leadership of MLA K Abhayachandra Jain saw a grand opening and was run with the real spirit of competition of the traditional race of Tulunadu. The nearly 40-hour long race of buffaloes was enjoyed by the gathering.
Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty’s participation as a guest entertained the audience at the venue. He said that the buffalo race is part of the culture of our Tulunadu and we should retain this culture.
He stressed that the government should also encourage this. The actor honoured some of the owners of buffaloes.
The races were held in ‘Kene Halage’, ‘Hagga’, ‘Adda Halage’, and ‘Negilu’ categories.
Raitha Mela:
Alongside the Kambala, a Raitha Mela organized by the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Sri Dharmastala Rural Development Scheme, and Krishi Vichara Vinimaya Kendra, attracted Kambala lovers and agriculturists. The Mela focused on information about agriculture.
The two-day programme also saw an exhibition of agricultural products and equipments. Seminars on water conservation and the agricultural market were also held.
Day 1:
