New Delhi, Jun 4: In a shocking turn of events reported from South Delhi, a SpiceJet pilot was robbed at gunpoint by 10 men while he was on his way to work. However, before fleeing one of the men, attacked the pilot and left him bleeding on a flyover near IIT Delhi.

The victim of the attack is identified as Yuvraj Tewatia, a flight captain, who was travelling from his house in Faridabad in his official car to the airport at 1 am.

Photos of the pilot's bloodstained car and an account of the attack have been widely shared on social media. Reports of recent attacks in a similar fashion taking place near IIT Delhi have been also reported by several other people.

According to a police complaint, when Tewatia reached a flyover near IIT Delhi, 10 men on five two-wheelers blocked the road and forcibly stopped his car.

They surrounded the car and broke the windows, the complaint said. One of the accused also hit the pilot on his head with the back of a gun. Following this, the men then snatched his belongings and also ran away with Rs 34,000 that he was carrying.

Before leaving, they attacked him with a knife, leaving him bleeding inside the car. In visuals, the windows of the bloodstained car are seen broken and pieces of glass are scattered on the seat.

The pilot managed to call the police after the gang left, following which a police team arrived at the crime scene.

With other complaints of such incidents being reported, it has raised concerns over the safety of commuters who are engaged in essential services amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The South West Delhi police have registered a case in this matter and investigations are underway.

This is sad and shocking incident. Since un-employment is on the rise, these kind of crimes with faces masked completely might continue. Traveling at night might be a nightmare to people anymore.
We hope that things will be better soon. We also hope this incident is an eye opener to our Politicians who are only talking about creating jobs, but in reality there are million of people who have lost jobs. So when there are no jobs, people need money and they will scoop down to any level to get that money. Beg, borrow or steal will be the mantra.
