Salute! Bantwal police win hearts after rescue of youth from accident spot

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Jun 7: In a heart-warming incident, the Bantwal police rushed to the rescue of a youth who met with an accident on his way from Karkala to Mangaluru.

In a post on Facebook on Saturday June 6, a person named Adithya Narayan narrated an incident wherein the Bantwal police responded to his call for help after he met with an accident, when no one else, including the ambulance helpline, responded.

In his post Adithya said, "It was 9.30 pm when I finished a meeting at Karkala and was heading to Puttur via Mangaluru. Around 10 pm, when I reached BC Road it started raining heavily. I waited for an hour at BC Road for the intensity of the rain to reduce and then continued my journey on my two-wheeler.

"When I reached Panemangaluru, it started raining heavily again. But as it was too late, I continued riding my two-wheeler. When I reached near Ullas hotel at Melkar, a truck passed by me from the opposite direction without dimming the beam light. Due to this my two-wheeler veered to the side of the road and I fell. I did not know what happened at that moment. I could not even drag my leg. Somehow I managed to pull my vehicle to one side and sat in front of Ullas hotel. As there was no power, it was dark everywhere.

"Due to the impact of the fall, the flashlight of my mobile was not working. My legs and hands were hurting badly. I called 108 emergency number. But the number was continuously giving a busy tone. After trying two times, I called 100 (police helpline). There somebody received the call but was not speaking to me. On Google, I found the mobile number of Bantwal station sub-inspector (SI). I explained my situation to him. He responded quickly and asked his station personnel to reach the spot with a van. The highway patrol vehicle had also arrived along with the van of Bantwal police station. The police and home guard personnel in the vehicle gave me first aid and also made small repairs on my vehicle and helped me.

"I want to say to the media who highlight only the atrocities committed by police 24x7, that police do not see time and situation when they are on duty. This incident has shown me their humane side and not only the strict action they take due to circumstances," he said in the post.

When he requested a selfie with the cops who helped him, they humbly replied that they were only doing their duty. "I asked for a selfie with the police team when I was about to leave. I was astonished by their answer. The police personnel said, 'We are not politicians to take photos and make huge propaganda about minor work like this. We are police. This is our duty'."

"Even then I pursuaded them and got a selfie. These are the real warriors who work for us," said Adithya Narayan, whole-heartedly appreciating the help of the police and homeguard personnel.

The Bantwal police team that helped Adithya has come in for immense appreciation, with Adithya's post amassing over 2,100 comments and over 2,400 shares in less than 24 hours.

there is a valid reason for Bantwal police to win hearts after rescue of youth from accident spot. The answer given by the police to youth, when youth requested for selfie itself is praiseworthy. That lured itself lured many hearts.Police personnel's timely help was the need of the hour and they did their duty without the expectation of anything. That shows their humane nature.Hats off to Bantwal police.Commendable job.As they rightly said, they have not helped for their publicity like politicians but they did solely as their duty.God bless them and this is the lesson to learn from them

Beautiful gesture. God bless the police most abundantly. A point to be noted. I will highly appreciate if even Daijiworld took this cause with the police. High beams from cars and heavy vehicles should be taken seriously and especially during monsoon the drive against high beam should be take up on a war footing. This high beam practice is very very dangerous to two wheelers. I drive a car, but understand how the high beam issue is something that has to be dealt with seriously.

I humbly salute these 'Men In Uniform' who have gone beyond their call of duty. Hats off to these gentlemen. Their timely action may have saved a valuable life. Because of such officers, our country is a good place to live.
Very apt in what they said, "we are not politicians to seek publicity in these small gestures. We did our duty." What a resounding slap on the face of the politicians of our country.
May we please have such humane policemen in our country?

    "ಸಾರ್, ನಾವು ಸಣ್ಣ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಕೆಲಸದ ಫೋಟೋ ಹೊಡೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಊರಿಡೀ ಢಂಗುರ ಭಾರಿಸಲು ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಪೊಲೀಸರು"
These police need to be saluted for their wonderful work and expressing that it was their duty and what they did was really small.
We need more of these police who are brave to say that they are police and not politicians.
