Balaghat, Jun 9 (IANS): Naxalites are suspected to be behind the murder of a young man Sonu who was shot dead in Madhya Pradeshs Balaghat district. A leaflet found at the site points to the involvement of Naxalites. However, the police have not confirmed the involvement of Naxalites so far.
According to information received by the police on Tuesday, Sonu's body was found at a location between Navarwahi and Rayali Kodappa in the Lanji police station area.
A hand-written leaflet found on the body claimed that Sonu was a police informant and had, therefore, been killed by the Naxals.
Superintendent of police Abhishek Tiwari told IANS that a hand-written note was recovered from the deceased, but it did not seem to have been written by the Naxalites.
Balaghat is a Naxalite-affected district of Madhya Pradesh and is situated on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. Since Naxals are active in the area, their involvement in the murder is most likely.
