Udupi, Jun 11: A short film produced by the youth here is now making rounds in coastal Karnataka. The film 'Kelsa Hoitha' centres around youth and professionals losing their job due to the pandemic.
The film is written and directed by Sachin S Kotian, a young tour operator of Udupi. It is produced on limited resources and no profit. The short film concentrates on youth who have huge responsibilities and are trying their hardest to meet those responsibilities. A young boy has the responsibility of looking after his parents, paying the debts and many other demands needing to be met. One day he suddenly loses his job leaving an uncertain future. He becomes desperate and decides to end his life by jumping into the water, but is suddenly and miraculously saved by someone who inspires him to lead his life positively.
Speaking about the idea behind this short film, Sachin Kotian says, "Every day in our surroundings we see 9-10 persons on average who either end their life or attempt suicide. This suicidal tendency is increasing due to the youth attracted to a white-collar job. Everyone wants white-collar jobs. But when white-collar jobs are not available, they have to do something rather than be idle. If a person has enough courage to die why can he not have the courage to live?" asks Sachin Kotian.
Mahesh Malpe and Namratha S Rao acted in the film. Shashidhar Devadiga handled videography and editing. Shaila Sukumar Kamath, Ganesh Kamath and Shashikanth Shetty rendered their voices for the film.
The short film released on Youtube has already received a good response. With just a small team of 5 people, the team has undertaken great efforts to spread positive vibes among the youth.
