After KG to class 5, Karnataka extends ban on online classes till 7th standard

Bengaluru, Jun 11: Due to the intense protest against online education for primary school students by general public, the Karnataka government on Thursday June 11 decided to extend the ban on online classes till seventh standard.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting that was held under the leadership of chief minister B S Yediyurappa as per the information that was given by law minister Madhuswamy.

Earlier on Wednesday, minister Suresh Kumar had informed that online education is cancelled for all boards like state, CBSE and ICSE from KG to fifth standard.

There has been pressure on the government to act, as parents have been complaining about online classes conducted by private schools even for kindergarten kids.

Schools and higher educational institutions in Karnataka are closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    I am not sure if this instruction has any effect as schools are still continuing online classes today even after this circular. I dont think the schools are even aware of this circular

    As I have said earlier also the minister who looks after education has gone crazy. He changes statements every hour. The morning he said up to 5th standard, then 7th standard. In between no online classes and the schools will be punished.

    I do not understand who started this craze of online classes to learn from Kg to Degree. We are still not sure whether this study method will be considered for the final exams of the students or to assess how much they have learned. i have seen students being online on classes for 8 -10 hrs and have lunch, dinner along with their study.

    Imagine the fate of the students whose parents, relatives or neighbour are undergoing COVID treatment. Imagine the whole village getting quarantined. Imagine those who are not able to afford textbooks and writing books for study

    Our governments are playing with the precious life of students and will only wake up when somebody does suicide for non-availability of a computer or network or online learning methodology

    I still feel as the PM announced lockdown in one night he should come out with his Mann Ki Baat and announce the academic year 2020- 21 is shut and no classes for this year. The year of study should only start in May 2021, hoping COVID -19 goes off

    Hope Government will not hurry to open schools by cancelling online classes, I agree below fifth it should not be done, but above fith they could have done. Online classes was going on smoothly with 1-2 hrs per day, there was absolutely no problem.

    Instead of risking our kids by sending them to school online education was a good option in times of Pandemic....

    But it is not clear as to will they continue with recorded sessions. If so will still be worst since there will not be any interaction between teachers and students.
