Mumbai, Feb 8: The students and teachers of Ryan Global School (RGS), Lokhandwala – Andheri, have a strong feeling that as responsible citizens of the society, they should contribute themselves and their services to the welfare of under privileged special children.
The students and staff of RGS spent their morning session at ‘Bal Bhavan’ and ‘Jeevan Asha’ here recently.
Recitation of prayers and prayer songs marked the beginning of the session. Thereafter, the children were taught a few breathing and yoga techniques followed by their music teacher playing some wonderful tunes to which all the students and children danced to their heart’s content.
The children were taught how to make a pen stand with recyclable materials like paper cups and ice cream sticks. It was followed by a newspaper dance game, which the children enjoyed.
RGS members then visited Jeevan Asha, the home for the aged, which is in the same locality. The recitation of prayers and prayer song brought smiles on the faces of all the residents.
The students interacted with the elderly and shared their thoughts. The enthusiasm in the elderly people could be seen in their participation in the game organized for them and later when they requested songs of their choice to be played and sung while everyone merrily joined in.
This helped the students and staff of RGS become familiar with caring, sharing, respecting elders, and being responsible towards their work. The children of RGS expressed their desire to revisit the two institutions.
“Today was a very important moment for RGS students as they got an opportunity to connect with these special children and the elders. Such meaningful visits help us to develop our students to be humble towards community service. The joy and happiness which we saw in the faces of these special children and elders strengthen our institution’s core values laid by our chairman D Augustine Pinto to serve the community. Ryan Global School–Andheri is a complete international curriculum school which encourages community service as an integrated part of the curriculum”, said Archana Singh, principal, RGS.
The children and the staff of RGS thanked the sisters at Bal Bhavan and Jeevan Asha for giving them this wonderful opportunity and for their selfless service.
