Bengaluru, Jun 21: "We will take care that the shortcomings that occurred during the English subject examination of second PU will not recur in the SSLC examination. The examination for SSLC will be held as scheduled and sufficient precautions will be taken to maintain social distance," said Suresh Kumar, minister for primary and secondary education, government of Karnataka.

Speaking at a press conference in the city, Suresh Kumar said that he will take action against the staff of examination centres if they do not ensure social distance rule.

The SSLC exams are scheduled to begin from June 25 across the state.

The minister further said, "We are tracing parents, guardians or close relatives of the students to check if they are placed under quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. Based on the information that is available with the education department, such students are being exempted from writing the examination on June 25. Students living in containment zones also will not be able to write the examination. Such students can write supplementary exams later as regular students.

"Examinations will be conducted as per the directions of the court. One health check up centre for every 200 students will be set up in every examination center. Every student will be given two face masks."

Suresh Kumar also clarified that the rumours about the girl student, who wrote the English subject examination of second PU at the Jayanagar College after allegedly erasing her quarantine seal, as false. The swab report of the student has turned out negative.

In the meantime, NSUI activits held a protest in front of the residence of minister Suresh Kumar urging not to hold SSLC examination in the wake of the fast-spreading Covid-19 infection.
