Bengaluru, Jun 25 (IANS): Alarmed at some ministers, legislators and officials testing Covid positive in the line of duty, the Karnataka government has created an exclusive Covid Care Centre (CCC) for them and the police personnel, an official said on Wednesday.

"Elected representatives and ministers, who are holding constitutional positions, and senior ranking officers at the government level are getting infected during the course of discharge of duties. This calls for identifying a dedicated CCC," said a health official.

One wing of the government-owned Kumara Krupa guesthouse with 100 rooms of individual occupancy has been designated as a CCC, which will cater to the politicians and officials.

Among the officials, only those above the rank of secretary will be accommodated in the guesthouse.

The guesthouse management has been instructed to limit the number of bookings to only a maximum of 33 per cent in its other wings.

"All unnecessary visitors to the Kumar Krupa guesthouse shall be summarily avoided," said the official.

Meanwhile, the government has identified two facilities to house police personnel infected in the line of duty.

One floor of Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji Ashrama in Kanakapura road has been reserved as a CCC for police personnel, both asymptomatic and mild symptomatic cases.

Similarly, the ESI Hospital at Indiranagar has been notified as a dedicated Covid hospital to treat moderate and severely symptomatic policemen.

"All mandatory directions given by the state from time to time shall be implemented in the hospital while clinically treating the police personnel infected with Covid-19," the official added.
