Pavan.... Well said. The demand is there from a long time. I think this is the right time to implement it. There were some positive developments for an international cricket stadium some years back, but nothing has changed.
We have already got an International Airport, most of the roads are getting converted into four lanes, other Major development works in Mangalore etc.
One more thing we require now is up-gradation of our Central Railway Station in M'lore. A separate railway zone needs to be created with M'lore as the headquarters.
I also feel the district name DK District should be changed to Mangalore District. There is so much confusion regarding this that some times in newspapers (specially English) they mention as Mangalore District. We use either DK or South Canara, so many names.... Hope these changes happen and peace prevails in M'lore always... Thanks...

Good to see T20 going on in Mangalore, trying to create more opportunities for players. But having these types of tournaments is of no help to any youngster without having proper facilities. Even today after so many years there is no turf wicket in Mangalore. All the matches are played on matting. If a cricketer does not practice or play on a turf wicket, he will not be able to perform when he gets a chance at a higher level. All his life a cricketer in Manglore practices and plays on a matting wicket, and when given a chance he has to perform on a turf wicket which is unfair. Whoever is involved in promoting the game should first get involved in making a suitable turf wicket, so that the future generation of Mangalore will be able to represent the State and National sides. Talent in Mangalore was abundant from the time I have known, but why no one can make it big is because this in one of the major reasons.
