Mangalore: Kazi’s Demise – Six Arrested for Forcible Closure of Shops
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 16: While most of the people in Bunder area in the city closed their shops and other establishments voluntarily in the afternoon on Monday
February 15 as a mark of respect for the Mangalore Kazi, Shaikhuna C M Abdulla Musliyar Chembarikka, stone pelting incidents were reported from the area, when certain shopkeepers resisted demands to close their shops.

As the situation was threatening to go out of hand, the policemen from the Bunder station here rushed to the spot, dispersed the people and eased the situation. On the charges of stoning the shops in an attempt to force the concerned to close their shops, six persons, Aslam, Ravuf, Ismail, Iqbal, Ashraf and Imtiaz, were arrested and produced in a local court, informed inspector, Vinay Gaonkar.

Muslims closed their shops in honour of the late Kazi at Bantwal too. Various dignitaries including former union minister, Oscar Fernandes, former minister, Vasant Salian, MLAs, B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Coir Board member, T M Shahid, president of the minority cell of the Congress, B A Moideen Bawa, Ullal Darga president, U K Monu Haji, Padubidri zone Muslim Union president, M P Moidinabba, city Central Jumma Masjid Zeenat Baksh president, Haji Y Abdulla Kunhi and other office bearers and trustees etc., have condoled the death of the religious leader.

    Shahnawaz ,

Cool down dude. Why bring RSS in what Kiran has said.

People are really angry with Indian Mujahiddins and whats wrong in that?? Is it too much to ask people to pay condolence for pune blast. (10 dead - most of then students of nearby colleges). As far as ideology is concerned the IMs do claim to be doing gods job.

Dude - Here's a piece of unsolicited advice - As a ardent fan of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens , Pat Condell I suggest you listen to their talks on youtube. It will help you see things without wearing religious glasses. (FYI they are not RSS men)

Take it or leave it - your wish. Peace.

Today we are fed with ideology and ideology of religions. This is allowed in this religion and this is not allowed in this religion. we are following dos and donts of the religion. All religions are participating in the number game race. We all now that spirituality lies within one self and the religion is just a means of achieving it. We have forgotten that religions are there to serve the humanity. But today the humanity is getting killed by the religion.

while i dont support forcible shutdown of shops and establishement to mark respect,at the same time Kiran & Shiva should also know that it is people like them infuse hatred amongst citizens by making such irresponsible and un-ethical statements. For people like Shiva, the late Kazi might not be of any importance.but the fact is He was known to have had a great rapport with people, especially with the non muslims and commanded respect from all quarters.

Shiva and Kiran, have you also condemned the bundh which was called by the SR SENA to oppose blackening of their leader

Kiran fenz/mangalore, I agree its not tippu or mughal era, at the same time its not shivaji or Wodeyar era. We are neither ruled by muslim rulers nor hindu rulers. We are ruled by our selves by the government of the people, by the people and for the people. India is a secular country and not a theocrtic fundamental country... You people have been poisoned by dirty RSS and Fascist ideologies. Your each and every word vomitt venom. Stop this. Its good for our prosperity and peaceful nation.

Shiva/Mangalore, you have d yourself in morale bankrrupticy. If I say, I dont have to respect a hindu scholar or swami as he has not done anything but to hindu commmunity, I am wrong. He might not have done good to you, but neither he has done anything evil to you. YOu are no doubt a follower of saffron brigade who preach and practice hate. Do you have a mulsim neighbour in your locality? Is this the way you treat them? Very bad. Your mindset just reflects your mindset and your upbringing. One who drinks milk dies, but one who drink poision how long he will survive? Is it the values you pass on to your younger generation. You are haaving Godly name but your thinking and ideologies are devilish. By closing or not closing the shops, late Kazi will not get heaven or hell. Its a part of our rich heritage and culture, which unfortunately your parents failed to teach you. Its not your mistake.

Mr Shiva. Your words of comments says that you have brain of RSS ideology. Even I agree that closing shops forcefully is not right. As per my knowledge in Islam, ISLAM does not teach hatred, its a peaceful religion like other religion including Hinduism. but your narrow minded brain will not understand it. and those involved in shutting down the shops should be punished, but why the police is partial during communal riots? During church attack all my brothers were beaten black and blue though they were innocent. and its BD, RSS, VHP and SRS involved in killing so many innocent lives.

You people neither want to live happy and nor see people other people to be happy in their own life. When you see people from other religion getting prosperity you feel jealous and spill the venomous statements as you mentioned in your comments. Brother try to find the way to join the things not break them.

Dear Muslim Brother/Sisters, please think twice before leaving your comments. ISLAM never teach us to close the shops or any institutions due to the death of any scholars or Islamic leaders. When King Fahad (The Great King of 100% Muslim populated Country Saudi Arabia, who ruled the country for more than 25 years)passed away, Saudi Govt. has not announced even 1 day holiday, all Companies, Shops & Institutions opened as it is.

Islam means Peace, Unity. Please don’t put any comments yourself, which will give chance others to make an issue. If Sri Rama Sena or Bajarang Dal’s members forcing or attacking on peoples to close their shop during unwanted crisis, it means they doesn’t know about their religion. Hinduism never support for such an incident.

Remember only few Goondas & some unemployed youngstars are involved on these type of incident, whether they belongs from Hindu, Muslim or Christian. It is very unfortunate to say that in our county only Hindus have rights to take the LAW on their hands,If same thing happened with any minority members, he will be punished by Police as well as public.

Why do you want to follow the wrong path. Let the sena's do what they want one fine day they those who support them will definitely suffer.

Forceful closure of the establishments as a respect to the late Kazi is immoral. The respect should come voluntarily rather than coercion. There is no difference between the goons and these accused youths. What can we achieve with closing the establishment and to mark the respect to the departed soul is to follow the teachings of Quran and Hadeeths. There are many daily wagers in Bunder and some are sole breadwinner of their family, did anyone had a thought for them also what will be the situation of their family, if there is no wage for a day.

Agreed that Forcible closure is totally unethical and illegal. Its good thing that administration swung into action and perpetrators were booked. But law ,rules & orders should be the same for everyone ....May late Kazi soul rest in Peace....

I fully agree with Shahnawaz, 100% marks. We cannot force anyone to respect anyone. Respect comes from within. Stone pelting is completely outside the Islamic and civilian decorum. What do we achieve by forceful closure of shops? Such an act is an insult to the departed soul, very contrary to the principles and values practiced by the late Khazi. I appreciate the swift action taken by the police, whether they were partial during other such instances or not.I agree with Ismail K too.

The late Kazi was a scholar and well respected by the people all over coastal karnataka. In fact as a mark of respect for the departed soul, it would have been better that they have closed the shops voluntatily. However no body can ask some one to close the shop to show respect as the respect comes from ones love and inner conscious and values imbibed within him. Forecible closure is totally unethical and illegal. Added to that, stone pelting has made the situation worse. Its good thing that adminstration swung into action and perperators were booked. Secondly refusal to show respect for the late kazi shows how much polarised our society is and how much devided we are. Very sad and most unfortunate. When Admar shree passed away in Udupi, most of the muslim shops surroudning the ashta mutts were closed as a sign of respect.
