Dubai : Exciting Event on ‘Seven Habits for Highly Effective People’

Dubai, Feb 17: KEL (Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd.) conducted a workshop on The Seven Habits for Highly Effective People, at the India Club in Dubai recently. The three hour session was anchored by Rachel Handley, Learning & Development Manager (ENOC) and Maggie Williams, Training Manager (ENOC) proved successful with a overwhelming response to this event.
This workshop is based on the book written by Stephen R. Covey. It has sold over 15 million copies in 38 languages since first publication. It has been a top-seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty and human dignity. Covey argues that effectiveness is achieved by aligning oneself to what he calls "true north" principles of a character ethic that he believes to be universal and timeless.
Although it takes two full days to deliver this course in detail, the presenters condensed the session to deliver the content due to the constraints on time. The session was open for KEL members their families as well as non members. Both Rachel & Maggie brought in real life examples to illustrate various habits. The sessions where supported with group exercises, role plays, interaction and video clippings.
Rachel covered the first three habits which are as follows

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind: Principles of Personal Vision
Habit 3: Put First Things First: Principles of Integrity & Execution
Maggie covered the other 4 habits covering Independence to Interdependence
Habit 4: Think Win/Win: Principles of Mutual Benefit
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood: Principles of Mutual Understanding
Habit 6: Synergize: Principles of Creative Cooperation
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: Principles of Balanced Self-Renewal of body
The session started with the President of KEL, Albert Rodrigues welcoming the guests. He said that this workshop is unique and can have a profound impact on people’s lives. Alfred Vaz, Director - Events introduced the speakers.
The participants seemed to have enjoyed the event. In her vote of thanks President Elect Shobha Mendonca, thanked the presenters and the audience and suggested that it was now up to the participants to apply these techniques by taking a few lessons from this session back home. The program concluded with networking and dinner.
