Bantwal: Allipade Church - Sauharda Hall, Computer Training Centre, Inaugurated

Bantwal, Feb 17: The inaugural function of ‘Allipade Sauharda Hall’ and ‘St John’s Computer Training Centre’, newly built by St Antony’s Church, Allipade here, was held at 4 pm on Tuesday February 16 in the church premises.
Retired Bangalore Archbishop, Dr Ignatius Paul Pinto, inaugurated the newly built hall and delivered benedictory address, while Charles Diaz, MP from Kerala, inaugurated the computer centre.
Fr Ignatius, who presided over the meeting held in this connection later, advised the people to always try to achieve welfare of the others. He asked the people to talk less, and to do more work. “For building a good society, children need to become intelligent and knowledgeable. Therefore, they should be encouraged to get computer education,” he added.
MLA B Ramanath Rai, who released the souvenir brought out on this occasion, stressed the need for everyone to work for a harmonious coexistence. “More and more programmes and plans, which can build and reinforce trust between different human beings, should be chalked out. The people here have done that in good measure. I appreciate the church for building this hall in a rural place, which can go a long way in creating harmony between different communities,” he added. He hailed the priest of the church, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, for doing everything within his command to develop Allipade church by bringing people together, since the day he came here, and also for his action in treating everyone on equal footing. The behaviour of a person builds his personality, he felt.
Bantwal church parish priest, Roque D’Sa, Haji Abdul Hamid Musliyar, priest of Ajilamogaru mosque, Charles Diaz, Lok Sabha member, Dolphi Prashant D’Souza, youth leader, Ramachandra Bhat, president of Navur gram panchayat, and Dharnappa Poojary, president of Sarapady gram panchayat, who were present at the dais, extended their best wishes to the function.
In his introductory address, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, priest of Allipade Church, said that the village lacked proper space for organizing academic and cultural activities, besides organizing training programmes, and that the hall was built to fill this vacuum.
Parish priest, Jerald Pinto, welcomed. Secretary, Robert Vas, proposed vote of thanks. David and Wilma compered the programme. As part of the entertainment programme, ‘Badkada Orinda’, a Tulu play by ‘Telikeda Bolli’ Devadas Kapikad, was staged.
