Bangalore: Two Iranian Students Nabbed for Assaulting Police, Media

Bangalore, Feb 18: Two Iranian women students were arrested for assaulting a traffic Sub-Inspector and mandhandling a press photographer late last night when they were stopped for drunken driving, a top police official said.

"The accused Farima (26) and Azar Fasle (29) were nabbed, the former for punching Traffic SI Ganesh Rao and biting his hand and Fasle for pushing a press photographer, resulting in his camera being broken when they were stopped near Cubbon Park police station for drunken driving," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division) Chandrashekhar said.

He said tests on the two revealed readings much higher than the normal. The two started arguing when police asked them for relevant papers, he said, adding that Farima assaulted Ganesh who was questioning her.

They were later taken to the police station, where some photographers present started clicking pictures. Irked, Fasle pushed one of them, breaking his camera, he said.

Farima had completed her engineering and was seeking admission to an MBA course in a college here, while Asle had completed her B.Sc. They were staying at the international college where Farima had studied

"The passports and driving licences of both have been seized", he said.

I thought muslims do not entertain drinking and here these are muslim women who are drunk and abusive. Great ladies should congragulate them. A branch of rama sene is required at b,lore also i guess. Not for violence but to protect these drunk women.

I doubt on the police that, they might have tried to molest them and the girls punched on the officer to protect her. You see the video on TOI and what we see is all Men with camera and someone pushing them to the office. All that published on Daijworld is abstracts from the police version and not from the people or witness to the incident.

Why you trust the police?Daijiword published the pictures of Nuns showing their legs above the knee with scars of police beating and the same police denied such acts and here why you people trust the police version and support the police?. This is my reply to those who posted comments on my previous comments. Wake up and learn to respect the women.Which school you learn this gender discriminations?

Mr Manish/Canada, Very sensible comment. If muslim men drink why not muslim women? Though its prohibited in islam, muslim too drink a fact cant be denied. Cow is sacred for a section of society, but the hard fact is majority of people consume beef.

All religions are perfect, but followers are worst. One cant expect utopian state of affairs in all religions. Here muslim women are drunk is not the issue. The issue is the law of the land. Everyone whether its foreigner or local must respect the laws of the land they are in. Some people are using this forum to humiliate muslim religion which is very unfair.

Neither I have symapthy for these ladies nor I support them. Infact they have brought a shame on to the religion they follow. Instead of bias and prejudices, one must see and analyse what mught have gone wrong that gave to ugly incident like this. Let the law of the land take its own course and punish the guilty.

Let Iranian newspaper and media carry this news and splash in Iran, so that these two evil ladies are exposed and let Iran come to know about the hard facts about its citizens. Drunk driving has given raise to the problems that followed. In my opinion these women are to be blamed first and what has happened thereafter is chains of post drunk tragedies.

These girls are rich students driving a decent car enjoying the life style and liberty which they cannot do so freely in Iran. Accept the fact that they are a spoiled and drunk and they are having fun. There is nothing wrong in having fun and getting drunk at late hours of night. But nothings above the law of the country and the guilty has to be punished whether its a man, women, gay or lebian from any religion or nationality. so let the law take its own course. Accpet the fact that muslim women get drunk too.

    Mr Vincy,
You need to get ur facts corrected first. Drunk driving is not permitted whether yo are a girl or boy, man or woman. Now as you said that a lady driver should be stopped by a lady officer and checked by a lady officer, if you remember two weeks back in mumbai a lady driver was jailed for homicide, reason drink driving and drug use.

I understand all have the liberty to drink but drinking sensibly is always appreciated.
Do you expect the people to leave the cars and take a walk or a bus back home after a party?
If u know u will be drinking then use public transport or walk but do not drive and risk others life.

Here the girls might have punched the police officer on self defense and you call it attack on police on duty? Where you present there?Would u punch a cop in self defence? Do you expect a decent hospitality from a police officer at night duty? Would u do so if u were working in the night shift. Don't question once morale.

Everyone one had the right to enjoy their life but not at the cost of risking others life.
    Cheers,

I am reacting to Mr Vincy's comments. U r in Bangkok and writing these comments. U try and enact the same situation and drama in Bangkok, Thailand and u will see the results for yourself, when u face the music from the Cops over there.

Drunken driving above the permissible limits, talking over the mobile while driving are some of the serious offences in the State of Karnataka. U have to respect the law and not to endanger others lives while driving. U r trying to justify the actions of Iranian students, when they were stopped at night by the police for routine check and asked to produce documents, and the driver did not carry license, which is still an major Offence and the Police Officer seized the documents and kept them in his vehicle and these Iranians forcibly took away the documents and asaulted the Police Officer.

The entire news has appeared in the all the newspapers and Times of India, Bangalore Edition carried this news in the front page. U read the news first and do not give yr half baked comments here and do not prove yr half baked ideas sitting Bangkok. Ok!

These two iranian students deserved to be punished for offfences they committed that includes an assault on a police Official on Duty.

    Valid points from vincy, Shamboor/Bangkok!
Moreover, when with alcometer, why have the media presence? that too visual media? It is well known that most muslim countries ban women from getting photo/ videographed...maybe these girls were shocked to see video cameras, so they must have tried to flee the scene...

Later, the media was called to the police station too...where is the right to privacy?  When underworld goons are arrested police provide them the luxury of black face masks...but hapless women caught in the middle of the night paraded in front of cameras...highly condemnable act...

Why you people forget that the SI is a male officer .He is not allowed to touch or pull out a lady driver or passenger from the car. He can only ask the car driver to drive to the nearest police station if they fail to produce license and documents. And the ladies can be checked and handled only by a female police officer.

See the car picture and the front glass is broken and do you think the lady punched the glass and break it. Do you expect a decent hospitality from a police officer at night duty? Do you know what language the police use at night when they approach a car .  There is no such law that stops a lady from having drinks. She has the right to enjoy her life irrespective of what religion she belongs. It may not be allowed in Iran but India is not Iran and we have bars and pubs where girls go and drink.
Our ladies go and drink and you attack them and call it as Pub-Attack because the girls did not hit you back. Here the girls might have punched the police officer on self defense and you call it attack on police on duty.

The alcohol meter is not approved instrument to prove the level of alcohol and they have to get the blood samples from a certified government doctor.  Do you expect the people to leave the cars and take a walk or a bus back home after a party.  You are allowed to drink and drive with a permissible limit. The Girls should be fined and punished if they had drinks over the limit. But only the driver of the car is punishable not the passenger.
