Mangalore, Feb 28:  ‘Kiru Thene-unleashing Children’s Creativity’, a movie screening followed by workshop for students from standard IV to IX was conducted at Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College on Friday February 26.

A member of Child Welfare Committee, Dakshina Kannada, a dramatist, poet and a cine artist, Geo D’Silva was the chief guest and the speaker of the event. St Aloysius College finance minister, Fr Walter and the event coordinator Vishal Nayak were the guests of honour.

KiruThene provided a forum for children to know their rights. The movie screening was based on the child rights followed by the discussions and interaction session. The event provided a platform for students to exhibit their creativity through drawings, collages, poetry and essays. Their works were displayed in the evening for public appreciation. The essays and poems written by the participants will be published in a magazine produced by ‘Padi’, NGO. Participants were provided with the transport, food and many other facilities.

A competition was conducted for participants where they had to describe Child Rights in a word. Students described in their own creative way.

Over 95 students from eight schools in and around Mangalore participated in the event. Representatives from ‘Padi’, NGO and teachers from schools were present. The president of ‘Padi’- NGO, Margaret D Abreao was also present for the event
