State Govt to take 'very strict' Action Against Nityananda
Bangalore, Mar 4 (PTI) : Karnataka Government today said it would take 'very strict' action against the absconding self-styled godman whose controversial video footage appeared on a Tamil television channel allegedly showing him in a compromising position.
Home Minister V S Acharya said in the Assembly "very strict" action would be taken against Nityananda Swami, after receiving information from Tamil Nadu, where his main ashram is located.
Raising the issue, Opposition Congress leader Siddaramaiah sought immediate arrest and confiscation of property of Nityananda, who has an ashram at Bidadi in neighbouring Ramanagara district.
"Criminal case and non-bailable offence should be registered against him, and he should be sent to jail", Siddaramaiah said.Crowd had attacked the Bidadi ashram yesterday after TV channels telecast what they claimed was footage of Nityananda in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.
Acharya said there are disputes over ownership of the land where the ashram is located at Bidadi, adding, it appears to be Government land.
