Raichur: Saviours during pandemic - Teachers visit students' homes to teach

Daijiworld Media Network - Raichur (SP)

Raichur, Jul 22: Coronavirus which appeared like a bolt from the blue at a time when the academic year 2019-20 was drawing to a close, continues to spread its tentacles. Therefore, it is not yet certain as to when the classes for the academic year 2020-21 will begin.

Taking this situation in their stride, teachers have started to take classes at the houses of students or to a collective group of students from a single area.

Students of private educational institutions get online education. But government school children do not have this facility. They cannot attend schools. Therefore, teachers, with the intention that these children should not slink away from studies and ensure that there should be continuity in the learning process, have undertaken this initiative. Teachers of Kesaratti village in Lingsugur taluk in the district have undertaken this novel service.

The government primary school here has 185 students spread over first to seventh standards. But the children have stopped reading as they do not have regular classes. Therefore, the teachers help them to revise the lessons, teach them about the environment, general knowledge and undertake lessons apart from creating awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.

The school at Kesaratti has eight teachers. They come to school regularly and go to the houses of students to take classes. These teachers have also been inspiring families to stop open defecation and build toilets in every house.

The villagers are appreciative of these teachers. The teachers aim at inspiring the students to pursue their talent in arts, improve their knowledge, etc through area wise classes. The teachers make the children come together in their areas, and train them in painting, environment, and general knowledge. Gundu Rao Desai and Gonniganur Kotresh are the teachers who have started these classes and have emerged as role models. They are getting total support from the children and their parents.

These teachers have brought old idols to the compound of the school at Gonniganur village, and by installing them in small platforms, have created an atmosphere in which they look like a museum. These government school teachers have taken an interest in educating their students as compared to many who forget about their duties and wait for government orders. They have also been creating an interest among the students in reading.

Report: Some teachers are taking classes to a collective group of students from a single area.

Hopefully this becomes a norm in the future.

It is far easier (on different levels) for a teacher to visit a group of students, as opposed to all these students travelling to a school.

One added benefit is that the traffic on the roads, and accidents involving children, is vastly minimised.

Appreciate the efforts/initiative taken by the teachers.

Seriously, how is this helpful exactly?
You teachers be like Corona super spreaders in teachers clothing
Putting yourself and the student as well as the parents and their family's life at danger.
If you can't adjust to online teaching, quit your job. Simple.
I would have respected you if you offered tuitions of small batches online.
    This is absolutely insane.
