J&K: 718 test positive in highest 1-day surge in COVID cases


Srinagar, Jul 23 (IANS): Another 718 people tested positive in J&K on Thursday as the total number of COVID-19 cases crossed 16,000 in the Union territory.

A statement issued by the information and public relations department said 718 people tested positive - 117 in Jammu division and 601 in Kashmir division as the total number of COVID-19 cases reached 16,429 in J&K.

So far, 282 people have been killed by the dreaded virus in J&K, 9 of them succumbing in different hospitals on Thursday while 8,709 patients have completely recovered.

Total number of active cases is now 7,438 in J&K out of which 1,440 are in Jammu division and 5,998 are in Kashmir division.
