Udupi, Mar 16: Shirtady William Pinto, senior advocate and Karnataka Rajyotsav awardee, has been nominated as the head of the legal aid and services cell of the district unit of the Indian Red Cross (IRC), for a period of three years.



The cell is aimed at educating the rural people in particular, in addition to the suppressed and oppressed sections of the society including the students of schools and colleges, on basic laws, consumers’ rights, human rights etc.  It will create legal awareness among the people, in order to enable them to solve the legal problems that they encounter in their day-today lives fearlessly and confidentially.
