Tumakuru, Aug 29: Recently, 700 areca and coconut trees belonging to a poor farmer in Heroor village of Kunigal taluk were cut down by some miscreants overnight. The farmer was expecting to reap harvest from these trees in two years. A police sub-inspector appeared as a saviour for the farmer, who was devastated by this development.

On the night of August 18, miscreants came armed with sickles and cut down all the trees which had grown well in the field belonging to Nagaraj, a farmer. A case was registered in this connection in Kunigal town police station. Nagaraj was shedding tears uncontrollably at this loss. Kunigal police sub-inspector Vikas Gowda, and his friend Sriram from H D Kote, came to the rescue of the listless farmer.

Vikas Gowda, moved by the plight of the farmer, wanted to help him in some way. He got in contact with Sriram and through him saw that 650 areca and ten coconut saplings are given free of cost to the farmer. These saplings were transported to the doorsteps of Nagaraj by vehicle from H D Kote. With this, a new hope has kindled in the life of the farmer. This initiative of the sub-inspector is getting lavish praises on social media.

The police profession teaches its employees to maintain law and order situation and also indulge in social service where needed. Vikas Gowda said that as per his social service responsibility he had extended some help to the farmer. He thanked Sriram for this gesture and said that the miscreants who destroyed the trees are behind the bars now.

Religions have no role whatsoever in making the Homo sapien good . They do often play a role in the evil that men do; as then, the specie is given recourse to perform some ablution to cleanse himself of his “sins”!

If the culture of any religion is to be credited with an act of good performed by somebody then all religions should equally take responsibility for the bad deeds committed by their subscribers.

So please enlighten me : which culture has influenced the people who do good deeds in Korea, Siberia, America , Europe or the Antarctica?!

Once a sapling is planted, a farmer looks after it like a little baby and anticipates a day that it bears fruits. Chopping off his dreams is unforgivable.

Those miscreants should be severely punished.
