Dubai: Vinay Vaz Elected President of Emirates Pangalites

Dubai, Mar 31: Vinay Vaz has been unanimously elected as the president of Emirates Pangalites, UAE. Paul Quadras has been chosen as its vice president, Shaila D’Mello as secretary and Joel Quadras as treasurer, during the eighth annual general body meeting of the organization, held at Shezen Restaurant, Karama here.
The meeting started with a prayer from Joel Quadras, followed by welcome address, delivered by Jovin D’Souza.
‘Sharadhaanjali to Wilfy Remibus’, a short programme of paying homage to the departed singing legend, was led by founder president of Emirates Pangalites UAE, Michael Castrlino, along with all the members.
Merline Castelino, secretary for 2008-09 and 2009-10, presented the annual report of the organization to the gathering, followed by the financial report, presented by Shaila D'Mello.
The election for the posts of the committee members started after the delivery of a motivational speech by the ex-presidents of Emirates Pangalites, Joel Quadras and Micheal Castelino.
The following members were elected unanimously for the year 2010-11:
President - Vinay Vaz, vice president - Paul Quadras, secretary - Shaila D’Mello, treasurer - Joel Quadras, cultural secretary - Aswin D’souza,, sports secretary - Noel D’Souza, media representative - Jovin D’Souza, charity coordinator - Ignatius Alva, joint cultural secretaries - Clevin D’Souza, Roshni Quadras, Vinitha D’Souza and Merlin Castelino.
Advisory Committee - Micheal Castelino, Alban Castelino, Dolphy D’Mello.
Core Committee members - Herald Menezes, John Fernades, Vincent Barboza, Ronald Mendonca, Alphonse Mendonca, Hilda Pinto, Veena Alva, Melwin D’Mello.
The current office bearers handed over charge of their respective portfolios to the newly elected office bearers. Outgoing president, Jovin D’Souza, thanked the committee and all the members for their exemplary performance during the previous term of two years, and wished the new office bearers all success.
The occasion was graced by the founder members, ex-presidents and the current committee members of Emirates Pangalites.
