FDI inflow from China declines as relations get tense

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS): The tense relations between India and China has affected the investment of Chinese companies as the foreign direct investment (FDI) of Chinese companies in India has declined significantly in the last three years, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said in a reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Thakur on Monday said, FDI from China in the last three years with FDI coming down to US $163.77 million in 2019-20 from US $350 million in 2017-18.

Lok Sabha MPs AKP Chinaraj and S. Jagathrakshakan asked the Finance Minister about the total investment of Chinese companies in various sectors in India during the last three years. In response to this question, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur shared the details of FDI of Chinese companies in the last three financial years.

He told the Parliament that the total FDI inflow from Chinese companies in India in 2017-18 was US $350.22 million, while it declined to US $229 million in 2018-19 and further declined to US $163.77 million in 2019-20.

Thakur denied any intention of not allowing any Chinese firm to invest in India. To curb opportunistic takeovers or acquisitions of Indian companies due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the government issued Press Note 3 earlier this year, he said.

A non-resident entity can invest in India under the FDI policy except those areas and activities which are prohibited, he said quoting Press Note 3.

    Shankar,

Modi is relying on Aadhar (that started by Congress govt) to keep head count of each and every Indian and ensures that it is linked to PAN, Bank, and all existing services. MNEREGA, that Modi criticised in Parliament during his first speech and his party members thumped their desks amid a roar of laughter, is continuing even today and especially during very testing times of Covid-19 which is again a scheme started by Congress.

Tell me what changes (schemes) Modi govt brought out successfully ? DeMo ?? GST ?? Black Money retrieval ?? LPG Gas subsidy ? Make in India ?? Abrogation of Art. 370 ?? Have terror attacks in J&K anytime less than before ? Infiltration bids fro neighbour countries - have they become any less ? One Nation - One Ration card - the govt does not even how many card holders alive or dead ! PM Cares Fund is gone case because it is aimed only aimed at BIHAR, a poll bound state.

As for scams, I am sure you don't want to start a whole new lecture - do you ? Even if I start from the last - the old age pension - can we ? Wait for a month or so - you will hear the gaplabhaji in funds granted for Covid-19 handling.

If Modi is so bad, try dethroning him in 2024.
If you can't, that means you are wrong and majority of Indians are right...Modi is doing a good job.

Do you think Modi came to power because of his efficiency ?? Hello... he misled you saying that the Congress party shipped out all the money from India to Swiss bank which he'll bring back within 100 days of coming power. He royally fooled you guys. That's not all, your thirst for 15 Lakhs didn't get quenched in his first term, you guys were still hopeful. Take it.... instead of 15 Lakhs, he gave you -23% GDP.

Please enjoy the Ramarajya Shankar, no need to dethrone Modi at all. As years pass-by, you'll be retired and all your younger generation will be occupied with will be drug trading. That is exactly what is witnessed by us Indians in Modi rule of 6 years.
