Mangalore: KSRTC to Run Volvo Buses Between Manipal and Kasargod

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 7: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which is buoyed by the wholehearted support its Volvo bus services between the city and Manipal have got from the people of the twin-districts, has decided to commence Volvo bus services between Kasargod and Manipal, even though it had proposed to run these buses between Kasargod and the city earlier.

The new services are expected to be inaugurated on April 10. With the addition of these services, the commuters between the city and Manipal will get Volvo buses on this route every half an hour. Sources in KSRTC said that the present fleet of six Volvo buses will get additional six buses that will be run between Kasargod and Manipal.

The KSRTC had not expected so much support for its services, considering the lukewarm response of the people for its mini bus services run between the city and Manipal earlier.  A large number of private buses run on this route, and it was thought that the KSRTC may not be able to stand up to the aggression and competitive spirit of the operators and employees of the private buses. The increasing heat has also made the people to go for the air-conditioned Volvo buses.

The itinerary of the district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, says that he will participate in the inaugural of the Volvo bus services between Kasargod and Manipal on April 10. The KSRTC is yet to make an official statement about this inaugural.
