Udupi: Fit India Freedom Run organized by St Mary's English Medium School (CBSE)

Udupi, Oct 1: More than 100 teachers and non-teaching staff of St Mary's English Medium (CBSE) School enthusiastically participated in the Fit India Freedom Run program organized under the ambit of 'Fit India Movement-2020' of Central government. The freedom run covered around 5 km of brisk walking, jogging and running in Kinnimulki-Kannarpady area.

The run was flagged off by Rita Quadros, vice-principal of St Mary's English Medium School (CBSE). In her inaugural address, she motivated the participants by detailing the health benefits of sports, yoga and physical exercise.

Fr Johnson Sequiera, principal St Mary's English Medium School (CBSE) on the occasion highlighted the need for activity-filled work culture to enhance the level of efficiency and self-integrity.He appreciated the willingness shown by the staff members towards this nationwide health campaign, especially during the pandemic situation.

A large number of students from higher primary section had also participated in the Fit India campaign by taking up 'Running Challenge' in their respective location. The cumulative records of their running and walking tasks have been collected through online platforms to track the quality of their committed involvement.  

Physical education teacher Gerald Pinto, Renuka Acharya, Bhasker and Amitha took initiatives in planning the movement.
