Bengaluru: 'Wise to order commencement of schools' - Educational experts

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 2: Union government has left to the discretion of state governments the matter of starting the schools. Karnataka government is seeking the advice and instructions of the primary and high school education department, teachers, educational experts and people representatives in this regard.

Private schools and the administrative boards of the schools are all set to start the schools. Meanwhile, educational experts have also opined that it is a wise decision to order the commencement of schools. But the mindset of parents also has to be considered.

Earlier, the department of public instruction had gathered the opinion of parents in this matter and had received mixed views. There is a question mark whether the parents will send their wards to schools with the number of coronavirus infections rising by leaps and bounds. On the other hand, some parents are also concerned that the children may lose the touch with schooling as they are spending more time at home because of the pandemic.

At present, the parents are sending their children to the place where the teachers are teaching under the 'Vidyagama' scheme. School administrative committees believe that the parents will definitely send their children to schools if they take enough precautions against Covid.

The safety measures that are undertaken by the school management should be effectively conveyed to the parents. It will be easier to conduct classes if the responsibility of each child is shared equally by the school and parents. As the educational experts are also of the opinion that it is better to start schools as soon as possible, it is inevitable that the state government takes a decision soon in this regard.

First let's sort out the problem of infrastructure to handle covid cases. Govt is in deep apathy, no answer in hospitals for any rush of patients, medical staff is neck deep in problems already, overworked, underpaid etc. They are stretched.

Secondly, if a kid catches flu, cough, cold, today a parent is confident of treatment and get well soon. What about covid? Where is the vaccine? When is it coming?

Thirdly, how do you expect same reactions from different societal status kids, some do afford treatment, many aren't. What is the plan for them? Do the educational experts, think about them. Agreed, those kids suffer more without schools, they might not afford online education. This problem mirrors right back at schools to think of handling these kids first. It's been 3 months now, there is no plan from school, and how they can expect all children to be equipped for online education.

this year all primary and secondary classes should be conducted under open air premise, chance of infection is much less... classes can be conducted in turn... open air space in school compound or play grounds can be used for this purpose...

Kbr... Good point...appreciable. but, tell me what about buses, school rickshaws ? Sending to school by hiring autos to and fro will be very difficult for middle and poor class families. What about their lunch without washing hands with soap and maintaining distance at the washing place. All children will be hungry during that time. Safety, protection, fees, well being of the children etc etc should have to be looked after by the parents. Orders/advices are given by these experts... dumping everything on the shoulders of the parents and schools... Is it justice?? These experts/ educational authorities should stop pressurising the parents and imposing force to send their children after collecting fees in advance for the whole year...

Covid cases are in upward trend now unless downward trend starts it is advisable to open schools or college s . Also educational institutions definitely may take precautions but what about commuting students have to use public transport where it is very difficult to main social distancing also our hospitals or state is not prepared for community infections We don't have enough infrastructure for the same

Hence it is not advisable to start offline line class es
Also online classes are going on very strictly how students can miss academic touch

Education experts, Don't hold parents and school/colleges responsible with safety of their children.... Parents can send their children with full protection from home... Can they follow throughput the day? Then it depends upon the vehicles they travel/interaction with the other students who come from different areas. After the school, where a student goes/ which canteen he eats/whom all they meet on the way back home ? If you experts take responsibility of each and every child, and are ready to bear any bills if they fall sick then go ahead. But still, many don't want to send their children. So, please try to refund the fees for the remaining months. Taking the fees in adv. and now by force issuing statements after statements is not good.. as many always raise their voice saying they don't want to take risk..Many are financially slashed, unable to send by autos... Parents ...as they are struggling enough to survive and feed their children, dont hold them responsible for any untoward incident.... Adults themselves don't wear masks properly how can you expect young adults to do the same? Will there be soap to wash hands before food? If so, what about the queue ? Is it possible to maintain distance at canteens?

This is not needed and not necessarybat this moment. If the government and experts feel the need to start.. it would be wise to send their own respective children on a test basis for a few months and create good role models.. which im sure they will not do until a vaccine is found..

How could the educational experts or anyone even think of commencing schools & colleges in a scenario wherein u see a surge in covid cases. Only we parents know the value of our children. Will they be responsible for the mishap that would happen with our children in school or outside the house or during commuting......? If they are safe, they can study. Education is not more important than their lives right? It's bettee to commence the schools & colleges after the Vaccine is released in the market.

It’s better the government gives a go ahead in opening schools for 10&12 students as they will be attending board exams, where the students are under tremendous pressure from parents and not being able to cope up to online education which is conducted in convince of the institution. The education board also not giving clarity on the portion and possible exam dates. STUDENTS GET AFFECTED HERE PLEASE THINK ABOUT It!

Educational experts becoming medical experts to decide on life/death risk fate of our children is not an exception while a uneducated Gujarati businessman can become a saintly genius. Money is important not anything else!!!

Absolutely not. Specially not in Karnataka. We are seeing record surge in Covid casses. How can we even think of opening schools and colleges ?? We don't want to send our children to schools and risk our children's life. Where online classes are going well it should be continued. Govt curtailed the LokaSabha sessions and they are talking of opening schools. Is there any logic ??

Why local administration can think of providing education through modern technology. Is there any opinion from medical field people or organisation. Are we not going to destroy future pillors of this nation and may go entire nation into depression. It is certainly NOT a good decision in this INCREASING pandemic situations. We are living for our Children and can not RISK their life.

Already Government is facing difficulty in treating patients of COVID and in Mangalore Government Hospitals treatjng COVID patients also not in good condition. Besides this way if this starts spreads amongst Children then it will again worst for all.

Request to Government to think on this .....🙏

Very good opinion based on scientific proof & data that can be obtained from those countries that didn't impose lock down or didn't shut their schools.
Kids in those countries didn't contract infection or passed it on to their parents.
In India we have an added advantage as we do not insulate our kids from playing outside in fields or playgrounds containing grass & mud which gives their immune system a boost including the amount of sunshine we have a plus point compared to snowy dreary western countries.
Again our kids get cold 3 or 4 times a year which gives them an immunity advantage creating antibodies against those viruses which give protection against corona virus too as both belong to same family.
Parents need to be educated regarding the above things who have got wrong information through media channels who have created a monster out of an ordinary flu like viral infection to get TRP ratings & money due the viewership count.

Who has authorized these so called wise men to take such decisions. There is no question of opening schools until the authorities are able to bring ths situation under control. Whatever safety they propose is only theory and lacks scientific backing snd practical implementation. So let the Education misisters think from a cholds point of view and kerp their commercial interests aside to focus their attention on the possible and not the impossible.

It's not wise decision. Only parents knows the value of their kids.
Most parents have only 1 kid. If anything happens is educational dept responsible???
Pvt sectors want grab money from parents by school opening. They are not interested in education to students. They want run their business nd fill their bank accounts.
