Saudi Arabia : Gulf Voice of Mangalore - Preliminary Rounds in Riyadh

Riyadh, April 15: ‘Aangan Konkneche Riyadh’, a city-based organization, will be holding a Konkani singing contest for the members of the Konkani-speaking community residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This event will be held on Friday May 14, 2010 in the city, as a Konkani Day event (Gayan-Nach-Natkulyancho Mel: Konknecho Dees 2010).
The competition, to be held separately for different age groups, will begin at 10 am. The age groups will start right from age 5, and there will not be any upper age limit for the participants. The categories in which the competition will be held are solo, duet (mixed), group and family.
At the event, 12 best singers (6 male and 6 female) will be selected for the semi-finals of the 'Voice of Mangalore' contest to be held in Riyadh later this year. Two finalists from among them will be participating in the finals to be held in Dubai during October, 2010.
‘Aangan Konkneche Riyadh’ has been promoting Konkani language and culture through exclusive programmes since its inception in 2007. The organization has been helping various young talents, besides promoting Konkani culture.
