Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School Bendore remembers great Mahatma

Mangaluru, Oct 3: In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the principal, staff and students celebrated the day through various activities and competitions.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, students participated virtually in the celebration. Grade IX and X students conducted Sarva Dharma Prarthana followed by presenting the philosophical and pragmatic ideal of Gandhiji: truth, non-violence, Satyagraha and Sarvodaya in an eloquent manner. This was followed by shramadhan by the students and teachers. The teachers cleaned the school campus and students were encouraged to keep the surroundings clean in and around their house.

In connection with this celebration, a series of online competitions were organized for the students. Keeping high the spirit of patriotism the students of grades I, II and III actively participated in the fancy dress competition depicting the simplicity of the Mahatma. In a special drive towards creating a clean and green India a drawing competition was organized for the students of grades IV and V. Mahatma Gandhi’s words were full of wisdom and inspiration to the people around the world, students of grade VI presented quotes of the Mahatma in a creative way. Gandhiji initiated the Swadeshi Movement by taking up the Charaka, the students of grade VII prepared a model of Charaka. Students of grade VIII depicted the Gandhian values in the form of a collage. Grade IX students artistically pencil sketched the portrait of Mahatma Gandhiji. An essay writing competition on the topic 'Are Mahatma’s Ideals relevant even today' was allotted to grade X.



Through these various activities our students were imbued with Gandhian values and vowed to keep the ideals of Gandhiji alive.
