‘Shaheen Cricketers’ Win DKMWA Annual Cricket Tourney

Bahrain, Apr 15: Dakshina Kannada Muslim Welfare Association (DKMWA) concluded its annual cricket tournament recently at Juffair Grounds opposite Al Fateh Grand Mosque.
Twenty teams played on a league basis with 10 limited overs and in the finals, Shaheen Cricketers scored 90 runs beating Mangalore Boys who scored 88 runs.
Shaheen Cricketers won the trophy and US$444 in cash while Mangalore Boys took home the runners-up trophy and US$222 in cash. DKMWA also gave trophies to all the participants and mementos to volunteers.
Dr Abdul Rehman, former vice-chancellor of Cannanore University and Calicut University, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony who, in his speech, appreciated the association for keeping a close relationship with countrymen.
Other personalities including Shantaram Shetty, Ramee Hotels, Prakash Shetty, Central Café, Jamaluddin, president, Dakshina Kannada Sunni Center, and Ashok Shetty of Creative Advertising, also spoke about the cricket tournament.
Abdul Razak, president DKMWA, along with his committee members thanked everyone for their support and contribution. B.M Sharief Bolar, Imtiaz Tasleem, and Ashok Shetty of Creative Advertising, were the main sponsors of the tournament.
Anand Lobo took charge of the running commentary and conducted the prize distribution ceremony.
