Mangaluru, Oct 20: The inauguration of students’ cultural activities 'Kalotsava 2020' of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was held on October 19 through the online Zoom platform.
Gurukanti, sub-inspector of police of Bunder police station, here, was the chief guest of the programme. After inaugurating the programme, through his message, he expressed his pleasure about the college in organizing Kalothsava through online mode which would help the all-round development of the students. He also explained that the mere knowledge of the subject alone is not sufficient for the all-round development of the students. It is possible only when they take part in curricular and extra-curricular activities. He advised the students to develop the attitude of respect to parents, teachers and to the nation at large.
The student council president, Gavin Abner Pinto administered the oath following the SOP norms of the government in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and hence to help the district administration to check the spread of the disease.
Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, in his presidential remarks, advised the students to make use of the various platforms provided by the college to showcase their hidden talents. He further mentioned that the involvement in extra-curricular activities gives better interaction among them and gives good experience in life which will provide the students with very good leadership qualities.
The dean of student welfare, Dr Ishwara Bhat gave a brief insight into Kalotsava and welcomed the gathering.
The convenor of the programme and dean of BBA, Arati Shanbhag compered the programme. Binni Chan from the department of BBA introduced the chief guest. The student council secretary, Paloma Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme ended with a video presentation of the cultural events by the students.
