Udupi, Oct 30: Deputy commissioner of the district G Jagadeesha, said that vaccine for COVID-19 pandemic is in the final stages of preparation, and as per the central government directions, officials and supporting staff working in the government and private health sectors need to be vaccinated first. He, therefore, instructed the health department officials to put together information about the staff working in government and private health sectors.

He was speaking at the Vaccine Workforce Coordination Committee meeting held in his office on Thursday, October 29. "In this district, 982 private institutions have been registered under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act and 92 government institutions are functioning. Doctors, nurses, lab technicians, supporting staff and all other details have to be obtained. Thereafter, steps will be taken to vaccinate aged people and weak persons, he stated.

He said that the vaccination routine of the children should not be stopped. The children need to be vaccinated as usual. The target, achievement of which had become sluggish during the lockdown period, should be accelerated and completed soon, he instructed.

He wanted maximum efforts to be made to see that the mother does not succumb during childbirth. For this, in case there are signs of the delivery process becoming complicated, necessary precautions should be undertaken and the death of the mother should be avoided, he added.

Noting that new COVID cases and deaths in the district are coming down, he advised the people not to stop wearing of masks and maintaining social distance at any cost till the disease is eradicated. He said the people must make it a routine to follow these steps without fail.

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer Dr Naveen Bhat, district health officer Dr Sudheer Chadra Sooda, district surgeon Dr Madhusudan Nayak and district RCH officer Dr M G Rama were present.

IT'S VERY GOOD NEWS, but I would like to give my personal opinion!
No mention of who is the developer of this vaccine?
IMHO, a safe vaccine takes years to develop as any fast track effort to push a vaccine is fraught with high risks!

Moreover, COVID19 is known to reinfect cured people, also immunity is said to last for 5-6 months only! 10% of infected people have serious complications even after a year?

COVID19 is known to be a very tricky virus, having potential to mutate quickly!

All the above is available in public domain, do your own research!

THE ABOVE IS ONLY A PERSONAL OPINION BASED ON MY KNOWLEDGE ON CURRENT INFORMATION ABOUT COVID19!
