Mangalore: City Bus Turns Turtle Near Ujjodi - 20 Injured Pics: Dayanand Kukkaje Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (RS/CN)
Mangalore, May 2: Nearly 20 people were injured after a city bus turned turtle in Ujjodi near Pumpwell.
The driver of the bus, running on route number 51 and travelling towards Konaje from the city on the National Highway, lost control of the vehicle. The passengers said that the driver lost control due to the rain.
A woman passenger stayed caught between the seats and was injured while many other passengers managed to get out by breaking the glass in the front and rear of the bus.
The woman was later shifted to a private hospital after the public rescued her following half an hour’s effort. Injured passengers were taken to private hospitals in the city and discharged after treatment.
Thats a good one Jawar D'Souza, I know most of them get graduated from Rickshaw driver to Bus driver!! you know how is our Mangalorean rickshaw drivers so what can you expect when he starts driving a Bus !! for him it is still a Rickshaw and drives the Bus in the same manner!!
What happened to the speed controllers or the 'governers' for the city buses that was announced sometimes back in light of a similar accident in Mangalore ?
Mella pola maraya..mande sama ejja? Kerpana?????
While I appreciate the efforts of local public in rescuing the passengers on time, excessive crowds (most of them spectators) do hamper the rescue operations esp. in situations like these when it rains...
This is a case of rash driving and over speeding there is no doubt about it. We all know how our driver's in Mangalore are may be they were pilot's in paskistan's airforce, when they were sent to bomb India they flew so fast that all they bomb's fell into Bay of Bengal, so they were dismissed from there, after that they joined the City busses of M'lore.
however always after accident the driver says lost the control, no one know that how he loosing the control? even after the police investigation police write on the FIR ‘lost the control’ but police never check that how he lost the control? because the police will shake the hand with the bus owner to write the good report on FIR to cover the bus with more benefits/claim from the insurance company, from Yekkur to Pumpwell they drive more then 80kmph to 100kmph in that peak hours in between the heavy traffic, while in the fast track their one eye will be watching the center mirror which is directed back to the ladies seat, and their right hand is holding the Mobile phone ware they talking with their girls who is sitting in the same bus, how coooool isn’t it ??? then saying about loosing the control !!!!! all the City /Service / and KSRTC busses has to fix the speed control units on each busses, it should not more then 40kmph to 60kmph. and also to be noticed that stopping the busses in the middle of the road/National highway is really nonsense and unsafe, if one of the passenger has to get down from the bus the driver stop the bus in middle of the same track which occur so many accidents when he stop the bus without any brake light signals, and also if one of the passenger has to get down from the bus the whole vehicles behind that bus has to get stop for a while even there is a huge traffic jam, even after knowing to the concern department what will be the solution for these?
